The week flew by, and the nightmares continued, right up until the night before the test. Except this time, something was slightly different. Before, the girl screamed "you are a threat to us all!" But this time, she screamed, "divergents are a threat to us all!"
I woke with a start, completely and utterly confused. What are divergents? And why are they a threat? I then realized she replaced the word "you" with the word "divergents". Am I a divergent...?
The next morning, I reluctantly climbed out of bed and put on the blue knee-length dress my mother had laid out for me. Arabella was still fast asleep.
"Bella?" I shook her gently.
"Hmm..?"
"We have the aptitude test today. It's time to get up."
She groaned and rolled out of bed. She donned a dress identical to mine and sat on my bed. I sat down next to her.
She searched my eyes. "What's wrong, Ana? You seem a little... off."
I sighed. She knew me too well. "Just... nervous about the test, that's all."
She sighed, still not satisfied, but fortunately she ended it there.
We didn't say a word as we lined up outside the building with the rest of Erudite.
When it got to the point where there were only a few people ahead of me, I started sweating like crazy. That's when I saw her. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw an Abnegation girl sneaking out the back of the building, her long blond hair tied in a tight bun.
She was the girl from my dream.
