Inconclusive

Shaking, I walked down the hall towards my testing room. I couldn't stop thinking about that girl. Who was she? Why was she sneaking out of the building? And why was she in my dream?

I walked in the room and saw a woman with long black hair. She looked... shaken. She looked at me, with a slightly nervous expression on her face. I could tell she was trying hard to conceal it.

She gave me a forced, thin-lipped smile. "Have a seat." She gestured towards a large chair in the middle of the room and I lay down. "My name is Tori, and I'll be administering your aptitude test today."

I nodded, and she handed me a small cup with a blue liquid. I sloshed it around for a few seconds, examining it, before I gulped it down in one sip.

I don't remember much from the test, just that it seemed to last forever and I had a hard time choosing what to do every time they threw something new at me.

I woke up, Tori pale and looking extremely panicked. "Not another one..." she mumbled, shaking her head. She looked up at me.

"What were my results?"

"Your results," she breathed in shakily, "were inconclusive. You showed aptitude for Erudite..."

I sighed, relieved but slightly confused. "Why is that inconclusive?"

"Because," she said, "you also showed equal aptitude for Amity, Abnegation, Candor... and Dauntless."

"But that's not possible..." I said, taking a step back.

"Oh, it's possible. Just extremely rare. I've seen it before, but usually they just show aptitude for two or three factions." She paused. "You're the first person in history to fit into all five."

I couldn't believe this. Did it have something to do with my dream?

"Is this dangerous?"

"Yes. You are a threat to the system. They can't control you. They call it-"

"Divergent."

"How did you know that?"

"Um... lucky guess?" She frowned at me in disbelief. Somehow though, I felt like I could trust her. "I had a dream."

She stared at me in horror. "This is even worse than I thought. You need to go home right now. Pretend to be sick. I've already told you too much. You can't tell anyone your test results. Trust no one. If you must, tell them you got Erudite- that's how I put it in manually."

"But-"

"Just go!"

She shoved me out the door and I took off running, on the verge of tears and more confused than ever.
