The rocket has risen up through to the Earth's atmosphere and keeps heading up and up and up before we see hot burning beginning to flare up over the rocket. It intensifies quickly before... KAROAR! KABOOM! POW! The rocket explodes, spewing its wreckage to be burnt up in the fire with it. Thunderbird 1 hurries to the left of the screen this time and remains in contact with Thunderbird 5 and Jeff.
Scott:
Dad, the first rocket has been destroyed. London is safe.
Jeff:
F.A.B. Scott. What about the other one headed for home?
Scott:
I'm on it. Thunderbird is at maximum speed. Impact now three minutes!
Hood:
Seems as though that really International Rescue will be destroyed. And Scott will be joining his deceased brother very shortly. Even if he diverts the rocket, he would never be able to escape the blast radius this time.
Captain Rigby:
Alright, you, that's enough! Get moving!
The Hood is shoved forward. Meanwhile, we see the rocket shooting to the left of the screen. We then change to Thunderbird 1 rushing to the left, then back to the rocket. Scott has now begun flying parallel against the rocket.
Scott:
Two minutes to impact!
Jeff:
It's now or never Scott!
Scott:
F.A.B. I only hope I'm not too late father!
We see Tracy Island in the far, far distance ahead. Thunderbird 1 has flown in front of the rocket and will repeat the same process once in position correctly.
John:
Scott! Pull up, you're in the correct position!
We hurry closer and closer and closer to Tracy Island with the loud gurgling of the rocket blasting towards it!
Jeff:
One minute Scott!
Thunderbird 1 has pulled up carefully underneath from the missile and, with his topside stabilizing fin, tilts the rocket up. Scott has lightly tilted the rocket, but it needs more!
John:
You need a higher angle Scott! But be careful with that. One juddery move could blow you up.
Scott:
Yeah, thanks for the reminder, John.
The rocket is pushed up and up and up and up! They soar up into the sky.
Jeff:
Thirty seconds left Scott. Get out of there, son!
Scott pulls the craft away and fires the afterburners to quickly escape the rocket by hurrying back to Tracy Island's direction. But Scott needs to be faster!
Twenty seconds!
The rocket hurries up and up continually!
Ten seconds!
Scott frowns as he accelerates Thunderbird 1.
Five seconds!
The rocket begins reaching the Earth's atmosphere until... KAROAR! KABOOM! POW! BANG! The wreckage is once again left to burn in the inferno. There is radio silence from Thunderbird 1.
Hello? Thunderbird 1? Come in Scott! Thunderbird 1, come in.
The faces of the Tracys are nerved and tensed.
Scott. Answer me! Thunderbird 1, come in!
There is still radio silence. We are left soundless. The Tracys look to each other, with the worst outcome, seemingly confirmed. WOOSH! We see Thunderbird 1 whooshing over the ocean. Scott has seen the explosion from the sky, a little white light is followed by a terrific roaring of the explosion (as the sound has to travel). He takes one huge sigh of relief and contacts the others, thankfully.
Scott:
International Rescue from Thunderbird 1, mission successfully completed. I have returned to base in the nick of time. The two 666 Prototype Rockets have been destroyed. Casualties and harm done to life – negative.
Thunderbird 1 is left to turn itself around back to the left and slowly fly in that direction as we see the sky beginning to dim a dark red colour...
