Hunter's POV
I can't do anything aside from watching my mate battle against Christian, one of the best warriors we have.
Christian is a mix from a werewolf female and a wizard, even though he doesn't come from such a good lineage as Calisa, he still is quite an opponent.
Grinding my teeth I stare at the scene unfolding in front of me, completely powerless.
It's currently around 20 minutes into the battle, and I can't tell who is winning.
Both have a perfect manipulation of magic and spells. Sometimes they would actually use spells but that is only when the mass of magic is quite big, requiring an incantation but for easy attack spells, they wouldn't speak.
Most attack spells were easy -for wizards like Calisa and Christian- and they charged quickly, moving sometimes too fast for the spectators to catch up, we would only see fire, lightening and whatnot flying from one side to another.
Although Christian's attacks are strong, his defense is weak, which is something Calisa noticed quickly and used at her advantage.
Calisa is not as strong as Christian physically which makes her attacks a little slower, but it's almost unnoticeable. Her defense though is sharp and strong, saving her life quite a few times.
Christian is in pretty bad shape, he has cuts and wounds all over his body, caused from the many attacks that Calisa threw his way, including fire and glass.
Calisa didn't look too good either but still somewhat better, her pants were ripped on the side, exposing her burnt skin that was not healing. Even though she had a lot of cuts on her arms and torso, she didn't look as exhausted as Christian did.
"Come on doggie, is that the best you can do? An immobility spell? You're running out of liatis aren't you?" Calisa taunts, laughing a bit.
Liatis is what allows someone to use magic. Some people can naturally create liatis in their body and then use it, but others -as in non magical creatures- can acquire it by buying it, although it doesn't last long and can be lethal.
A wizard's or witch's power is mostly measured from the quantity of liatis he/she can produce, and if you are a mixed creature, you usually only have half of the liatis you would normally have.
Depending on your training, your age and you body type you have more or less liatis.
Christian being a mutt doesn't have much liatis, and it surprises me that Calisa has more than him, since she is also mixed and younger than Christian.
Before the electricity can touch her, she jumps in the air and twists her body, a ball of fire shooting out of her hands at a very high speed.
Christian doesn't have time to move and I see him close his eyes, waiting for the impact.
But as Calisa gracefully lands to the ground, the fire stops inches from Christian's face. Calisa has her hands extended in front of her, trembling.
"You would be dead if I hadn't stopped." Calisa points out.
Christian opens his eyes and incredulously stares at the dancing flames.
Calisa snaps her fingers and the balls disappear in thin air. She wipes her forehead with the back of her hand before clapping them three times, the barrier disappearing.
In a flash I'm standing in front of her, holding her tightly against myself. Her heartbeat is elevated but she doesn't seem too exhausted. I look at her leg, analyzing the wound.
"Can you heal it?" I ask her, deciding to get angry with her later.
Calisa shakes her head "No, the only wound I can't heal is fire. You know, the whole deal with witches and fire."
"Come on, let's get you to the infirmary." I bend town to pick her up but she pushes me away.
"It's useless, they can't do anything. I'm fine, although I can't heal it, I can take some of the pain away." She explains, snapping her fingers.
A white light surround her legs and then disappears, her pants now replaced by shorts and a white bandage wrapped around her right leg, covering the wound.
"I have to get to class." Calisa tells me, limping past me.
I grab her arm, stopping her. Before she can react, I pick her up in my arms, bridal style, and start walking towards my house.
"No, you're coming with me, you need to rest." I state, the anger now surfacing.
Calisa sights "Put me down Hunter, I have other stuff to do."
"I am in no mood for your childish demands, you're coming with me and that's final." I say through gritted teeth.
I know she wants to reply but she can sense my anger through the bond. She looks away, and I can feel her own anger starting to rise.
This should be interesting.
