Hunter's POV
Calisa was asleep for 3 days.
Three fucking days.
Although I really just wanted for her to wake up and be by my side, I had been respectful and stayed away from her, allowing her to sleep in peace. And by staying away I mean I was gentle near her and tried not to make any noise."Hey, what time is it?" That melodious voice asked, making me look up from my phone.
There she was, sitting on the bed her hair a wild mess and her eyes half opened.
I rushed to her side and held her against me, inhaling her scent and listening to her heartbeat.
"Are you okay?" I questioned, not letting her go.
She sighted, gently pushing me away "Very dizzy and hungry. I need to talk to my dad."
Nodding, I pulled out my phone and sent a message to her father. A few seconds after the door opened and Fergus came in, smiling broadly when he saw Calisa sitting up.
"My baby. You're okay." He said, hugging his daughter tightly.
Calisa nodded "Yeah but what the fuck is going on?"
Fergus sat down on the chair next to the bed, looking defeated "It pains me to say this but I think war is upon us."
I frowned along with Calisa "What?"
"I have been investigating and it seems like Jack, the leader of the gang formed by creatures that have turned to the dark side has been gathering more and more soldiers." Fergus explained.
"But why attack me? They would know that Chiasie is only lethal to wizards and whoever attacked me was clearly targeting me." Calisa spoke.
Fergus stayed silent for a while "Calisa you know you come from two of the most powerful magical creatures alive and your powers, with some more training, are almost impossible to beat. You are the biggest threat to them."
I knew Calisa was powerful but I never imagined the extent of her abilities.
"So what does that mean?" Calisa asked.
Fergus stood up "Going back to the beginning of the history of magic, there was a legend that until today I thought was only a legend. I know you never really took interest in reading my old dusty books as you call it but before all the different magical creatures existed, there was only one. A woman with all of the powers combined, a woman that could destroy and create planets. Her name was Justine, she was a very loving and compassionate woman who dreamed of having children but never could. She traveled through continents looking for a cure, looking for something that could make her dream come true until she found a tribe that lived in the jungle. They taught her their beliefs and along with that came their medical knowledge. She tried everything they gave her, from fruits to herbs but nothing worked. One night she was walking aimlessly with thoughts of ending her life seeing as her sorrow was consuming her when something bright attracted her attention. She walked towards the light and realized it was a fruit, hanging from a tree. Without a second thought, and with nothing to lose, she took a bite from the fruit and that is when all of her powers surged. It took months for her to understand what was happening but she had finally managed to control her abilities and use them for good. However, not even with all the magic in the world, she could have her own children. So she decided to share her powers with the tribe that had accepted her as her own and that is when, all of us magical creatures were born. Slowly they started mating and eventually we were all born and created. Now the legend has it that she created a spell so that she could finally have her own children. That child would be chosen when the right time came, to protect the world that she created and designed, and to protect all of the living beings when she died. That spell would only manifest itself when said child would die. They would be brought back to life by the love she could never give them. That spell would show itself as a rock, which is the rock that you threw up."
I was at a loss of words. This would mean that Calisa was Justine's chosen daughter.
"But how would they know that I'm that child?" Calisa asked, clearly confused.
Fergus shook his head "There is more to the legend. Justine knew that good could never come without evil. When she created magical creatures, she had a husband. That husband was power hungry and when she gave the tribe equal powers, he did not receive any. Angry at his wife, he went back to the tree that gave the fruit from which came Justine's powers. He could only find one rotten fruit at the bottom of the tree and blinded by the desire of having power, he ate it. Instead of receiving his so desired power, the tree punished him and turned him into a monster. He got power, but simply black magic which he used before he died to also have children. That child would be created out of his hatred and black magic, to put an end to everything good in this world. That child would also have the power of knowing who Justine's child is. That child is Jack."
We stayed silent for a few minutes, each of us trying to understand what was happening.
I finally spoke up, looking at Fergus "So what does that mean."
He looked at his daughter "It means war, and our only hope is Calisa."
