Calisa's POV
I frown "What now?"
"Why won't you accept me as a mate?" He questions.
I sight and roll my eyes "Okay listen, I didn't run out of your office because I'm playing hard to get, I'm not like that. The thing is that I'm not sure if I'm ready for a relationship."
"But this isn't just a relationship. This is a soul bond. Your soul and mine were meant to be together for eternity. Once you reach 21, you'll spend forever with me." He argues.
I scoff shaking my head "If I turn 21. I still have the body of a human and a simple accident can take my life away. Therefore I don't want to get involved with anyone before I'm immortal. The pain of losing a soulmate that you haven't marked is smaller compared to one that is marked."
Hunter sits on the bed grabbing my hands "Nonsense. I would protect you with my life."
I look down sadly "I said I would protect him with my life too, but yet, he still died."
"Who?" Hunter questions.
I shake my head trying to get rid of the memories that were flooding my head once more.
"I'm sorry. I can't do this." I whisper running out of my room.
I know his following me, and I don't really care. I run out of the house, barefoot. I sprint through the field, enjoying the fresh air and the grass under my feet.
That's until I step on a rock and start hissing and hopping on one foot, trying to make my way to the lake.
"Calisa wait!" Hunter shouts behind me.
I look back and see him jogging up to me. I hop and hop, before I trip and fall down, face first.
Crack.
"Dammit!" I mutter knowing I obviously broke my nose.
Again.
Damn my clumsiness.
"For I did not inherited the grace of my mother, heal my nose and blame my father." I whisper, crawling my way up to the lake.
As my nose heals, I see shoes in front on me.
"Come on Calisa this is a bit ridiculous." Hunter scolds.
I ignore him and keep crawling, until I'm at the shore and I wait for the water to come.
Extending my arm as far as I could manage, my fingertips reach the water.
I mean if you thought about it, this whole scene was stupid. I was dragging my body to the shore of the lake, as if I couldn't walk, while Hunter walked next to me, staring down at me without helping me up.
It would have been so much cooler if I was injured and I couldn't walk, causing me to try and escape by turning (into a mermaid) from the bad guy who was gonna kill me (that would be Hunter).
But nope. I don't know why after I tripped I didn't get up. Too lazy I guess.
I close my eyes and let the water do it's thing, metamorphosing my body. I slowly open my eyes once more and look down at the place were my feet were, now replaced by a fish tail of a blue color with white scales.
Sadly, the legend is true and our bras are made out of seashells. And to make it even more cliche, they match the color of our tail.
Now a little history on mermaids.
Most of them live in Atlantis (yes it exists) but they can leave if they wish. The color of your tail informs the other mermaids of your status.
Blue for royalty (bitches better kneel in front of me).
