The boy ran as fast as could, blue flames bursting from his palms.
"Touya," his father called. "Where are you?" The father's voice turned from worried to angry. "TOUYA TODOROKI!"
The boy kept running until the voice of his father faded behind the wall of flames and smoke engulfing the woods.
Panting, he eventually stopping running.
For the first time in his young life, he felt safe.
His father had trained him to be his successor. Though the boy did possess a fire quirk even stronger than his father, he had the body type of his mother. He could never be the successor that his father wanted. The boy slumped behind a tall tree, wincing in pain. His palms were burning and ashy from using his quirk so much.
Today was just another training day for the pair. But something about the high winds made the air seem different, like a glimmer of hope in the icy wind.
Today was the day he finally did it. Even though it hurt him physically, running away took off a huge burden from his shoulders.Days past as the boy walked, straying even further into the woods. It was freezing but thanks to his quirk, he was able to stay warm at least for a little while without hurting himself even more.
The boy sat near the fire he had built, shivering in the cold.
His heart ached, longing for a new home.A single red feather flew past him, startling the boy. Hesitantly, he went over to the feather and picked it up off the ground.
"Huh," he mumbled to himself.
In an instant, a blonde boy falls from the sky, a pile of red feathers exploding from his wings at the hard impact.
The boy gasped, kneeling to the feathered one. "Are you okay?"
The blonde groans, rubbing his head. "Stupid wings," he griped. He looked up, pausing for a moment as he stared to the stunning blue eyes of the older one.
"Hi," the blonde said in awe.
The boy smiled weakly, extending his hand to the blonde. "Are you okay?"
The blonde took his hand, standing to his feet. "Yeah, I'll be fine." He tilts his head, looking over at the fire on the ground. He looks back up at the boy. "Are you out here all by yourself?"
The boy nods hesitantly, rubbing his arms in attempt to warm them.
The blonde frowns, taking the boy's hand. "Come with me," he says. "I bet you're hungry."
Without hesitation, the two boys held hands, making their way to their temporary home.
"Keigo, you can't just bring random kids here," a woman yells in a stern voice.
"But he was in the woods, all alone," he defended. "And he's hurt."
The woman sighs, rubbing the brim of her nose. "We don't have room for another child."
"He can stay in my room. Please," the blonde begged. "We can train together. Please!"
The woman looks over at the older boy. "What's your name?"
He rubs his arms nervously. "I-I um..." He was terrified to confess his name in fear he would be returned home to his father.
"My name is Dabi," he lied.
