I pant, pushing the weight off my chest and placing it on the metal bars.

Two times.
Two times Dabi almost kissed me.
I can't stop playing the images of him leaning in over and over in my head.
God, I'd give anything to have him all to myself.

It's 5 am.
I'm the only one in the gym at this time.

It's kinda nice just having some time to myself.

"Hey, bird brain," a voice calls.

I turn to see Kai coming towards me, looking more pissed off than usual.

"Morning to you too," I groan. I pat my sweaty forehead with a towel as he stands before me.

He huffs, his arms crossed over his chest. "Mind telling me why you're so fixated on my boyfriend?"

I blink at him. "I don't see why that's any of your business."

He pulls out a red feather, his eyes glaring angry into me. "It's my business when I find your feathers in MY boyfriend's dorm. I'll ask you again, why were you with him?"

"You didn't really ask that to begin with," I mumble to myself. Kai growls, balling up his fist.

"You smug son of a bitch," he hisses, taking a swing at me. I dodge him, my wings expanding around me offensively.

"Look man, I ain't gonna fight you again," I say, stepping back from him. "We didn't do anything. He's my best friend!"

"You're lying," Kai yells, squeezing the feather in his hand. I wince in pain, feeling the connection still fresh in my wings.

"Stop that," I groan, feeling anger boil inside me.

"How about you make me, bird brain," he taunts before biting the feather.

I gasp, grunting as if he was biting my actual wings. "Leave me alone! Dabi is my friend-"

"He's mine," Kai snaps before landing a punch in my stomach. I groan, doubling over.

He spits at my head, gritting his teeth. "You think you're better than me or something? Be a man and fight me. Unless you're just as weak and pathetic as Dabi."

I glare up at him, my fist meeting his jaw with a loud crack. "Leave him out of this!"

Kai steps back, holding his face with a devilish smirk. He wipes the blood from his busted lip with the back of his hand. He chuckles before tackling me, making me land on my wings wrong.

I cry out in pain, trying to dodge his fists as best I can.

"I'll fucking kill you," Kai growls, his blood dripping onto my bare chest.

"What? You that threatened by me," I laugh. The adrenaline pumping through me numbs the pain, making me feel like I'm invincible. "Or you just mad that Dabi actually loves me?"

Kai slams his fist into my jaw as I kick his chest, slamming him against the wall.

"He doesn't love you," Kai groans, holding his chest. "He isn't capable of emotion. He's just a hot piece of ass."

My blood boils. "You don't deserve him!" I jump to my feet, ignoring the sharp pains in my wings.

His arms swing at wildly, landing weak punches at my sides. I slam him into the wall, knocking the breath out of him.

Kai gasps for air, doubled over in pain.

"You don't deserve him," I growl. "You just use him. You don't give a flying shit about him."

He glares up at me, punching me right in the balls.

I wince, my knees buckling under me as I fall to the ground.

"You're done," he pants, stepping on my wings and rubbing them under his boots.

I scream in pain, feeling tears swell in my eyes.

"KAI CHISAKI," a voice screams before things go black.

I groan, opening my eyes.

I take in my surroundings, seeing I'm in the school infirmary. I sit up, feeling dizzy from the IV in my arm.

"Easy now," says a calming voice.

Dabi gently pushes me back to the bed, forcing a smile. "Take it easy, big guy."

"What happened," I ask, leaning back into the pillows.

"I went to go talk to you at the gym this morning and that's when I found Kai fighting you," he says in a shy voice. "I was able to get him off of you and knock him out. Kinda felt good too."

I smile weakly, reaching my hand out to him. Without hesitation, he takes hand and brings it to his lips. He kisses my hand sweetly, entangling our fingers together.
