"Hey, I've been trying to call and text you all night. Why didn't you answer me?" Sophia yelled at Ella down the hall.
Other students stopped and stare as she ran towards Ella, who was walking to class dreaming about Jacob.
"Hello!" Sophia said finally catching up to her and shaking her to her senses.
"What?" Ella questioned, still thinking of her night.
"You didnt answer any of my messages."
"You knew I was with Jacob." She replied crossing her arms.
"It was emergency."
"What's the emergency?" Ella asked. Sophia looked around, the other students were all staring at them. "Not here. We gotta go to our meadow." Sophia grabbed Ella's hand leading her to the door, but Ella didnt move.
"What are you doing? Come on." Sophia said.
"We can't skip school. I'm meeting Jacob for lunch."
"Forget that. This is more important." Sophia suggested grabbing Ella's hand again, but Ella pulled away. "No."
Ella started walking down the hall, ignoring Sophia.
"Why are you so stubborn?" Sophia yelled in frustration. "Im trying to help you."
"Help me by ditching lunch with my new boyfriend to go with you."
"Ella-" Sophia started.
"No. You can join me at lunch if you want." Ella cut her off than walked to class.
Sophia let a groan and bagged the locker next to her.
"What are you looking at?" She yelled when the other students was watching her. Sophia walked out the doors, trying to find Jacob.
She spotted him sitting on the stairs looking at his homework.
"Hey, Jake." Jacob looked up and gave Sophia a big grin.
"Hey, Sophia what's-,"
"I need you to break off your
date with Ella." Sophia demanded.
"What? Why." Jacob face looked confused.
"Just do it." Sophia's fist clench and inclench several times. Her body felt tense. Of course Ella didnt need to go today, but she wanted to know what Gwen knows. The curiosity was killing her, making it feel like a dozen bees swarming around her body.
Jacob took out his phone and started to text Ella. "What do I tell her why im breaking our lunch date?"
"Just tell her you got things to do." Sophia said, holding in her anger.
"Thats lying. I don't wanna lie to Ella."
"Oh my God!" Sophia snatched the phone out of Jacob's hands and texted Ella. "There."
"That was very rude." Jacob said grabbing his phone and putting it in his pocket.
"Sorry, just have to do this." Sophia said than walked off back into the school building.
The bell rang for class to begin. Sophia began to looked through the windows of each class looking for Ella. Ella was already in history.
"Excuse me, are you in this class?" The teacher said when Sophia barged into the class to retrieve Ella.
"Um...no its a emergency. I need Ella. Its family emergency. Apparently someone got hit by a car. I don't know." Sophia explained grabbing Ella and leading her out
the door.
"Geezus! You're so persistent." Ella yelled after they were safely in the hallway. "Im not skipping class with you." Ella took out her phone and noticed a text by Jacob cancelling their lunch date. Ella looked at Sophia. "You got him to break our date!"
"Im sorry, Ella. Please this is really a emergency." Sophia pleaded.
"Tell me what's the emergency!" Ella screamed.
Thunder suddenly crackled making the school windows vibrate.
"Ella, not here. Ill tell on way there."
"No tell me now!" Ella yelled causing it thunder and lightening. "Im not going anywhere until you tell me."
"Its about your parents, your real parents and who you are!" Sophia confessed.
Ella didn't say anything. She was speechless. What has Sophia found out about her real parents and who she is?
"Girls! No fighting in school." A teacher called coming towards them. "Aren't you two suppose to be in class."
"We have an emergency." Ella finally spoke.
Before the teacher could say more Ella and Sophia ran out the school doors and on to the parking lot to Sophia's car.
"What did you find out?" Ella asked as they got into the car. The sky now calm.
"Nothing yet. Its that old woman we saw. Her name is Gwen. She might know something."
"I thought you said, she was nobody to worry about."
"I wasn't sure at that time, til the time she told me to tell you to visualize the elements to help you control it."
"So she knows about my abilities."
"Yep." Sophia said. She started the car and headed to the red wood forest specificlly the meadow. They rode in silence til they reached the meadow.
"Where do we find her." Ella asked looking around the meadow. Nobody was around. It was quiet not a deer or squirrel in sight.
"She should be here soon." Sophia said.
Suddenly a image emerged out of thin air, coming as mist than forming into a being.
"Finally, Ella. Sweet child, Ive been watching you. You have learned to control." Gwen said. Her golden hair fell long in spirals down her back. She wore a light blue dress.
"How do you know who I am?" Ella asked. Her voice almost a whisper. She grabbed Sophia's hand afraid of this woman.
"Come, come, ill make you some tea." Gwen feathered her hand in the air near the tree making it materialize into a small house.
Sophia and Ella followed her into the home. Inside was wide, the living room had five chairs next to a fireplace. On the floor was a carpet in sorts of colors.
"Here we are." Gwen set the cups on a wooden table. "Please, sit, sit."
Sophia and Ella obeyed and took the tea. It smelt of mable. Both uneasy in the presence of Gwen's glowing aura.
"Can you tell us what you know?" Sophia asked.
Ella held a hand up to Sophia telling her to hush."First, Who are you?"
Gwen took a sip of her maple tea than set on the table. Crossing her arms ever so slowly. Anticipation physically covered the room.
