"Dad?" I was beyond shocked. I haven't seen him in....a long time. I can still remember what I said to him before he left me and mom.
~yep it's a FLASHBACK~
"Richard, I know this is hard in you but I'm leaving you and your mother.......for good." He told me trying to sound sad about it.
But I knew he was going to be happy without a child and wife holding him down. You see, my father was a workaholic but he apparently still had enough time for the lady next door. I knew that dad never loved me and mom, he only liked Jay. The only reason he liked Jay was because he was going to inherit the family business. But now since Jay was.......gone, he's just going to up and leave. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he once loved all of us, but times change, and so do people.
"I know, I heard you and mom yelling at each other last night. You don't have to shelter me dad! I'm 16! I know what divorce is!" I started yelling at him.
"Don't yell at me," he stated calmly," I know you know what divorce is, I just didn't want to say it because you have been through so muc-" I cut him off.
"You don't know the half of it. While you were out traveling on 'business' And mom was doing whatever it is she does, Jay was the only thing I had. Now I have no one. So you leaving is just the Icing on the cake!" I got up and left the room before he could say anything else to me.
~FLASHBACK OVER~~still Roberts POV~"It's been a while Richard." I got a really good look at him. He looked more stressed than he did when I last saw him.
"What do want?" I asked him. After all this time, he chooses know to see me. How did he even find me?
"Is that how you greet your father?" He asked clearly trying to get me to open up.
"Yes, yes it is." I smirked. I was going to say something else when I felt Julia nudge me aside.
"Hi I'm Julia Carter. It's nice to meet you." She said trying to get me to be civil with my dad.
"Carter, wow. Is this your girlfriend, Richard?" I looked at him sternly. I looked down to see Julia blushing. I think blushing is contagious because I started blushing along with her.
"Yes she is." I told him in a slightly happier tone.
"Come in." Julia gestured him to come inside. He stepped inside and smiled like he just hit a checkpoint.
"I heard about you in the news the other day. I just wanted to stop by and see how you were doing. It's been so long since I've se-" I cut him off once again.
"Eight years." I interrupted.
"I know it's just that I-" this time Julia cut him off.
"You want to apologize. You want to say your sorry for leaving him in the dust, while you went and had the time of your life." I looked over to Julia, who was staring at my dads stunned expression.
"Your right. I'm sorry son, please, I was just being stupid back then. I wasn't ready to be a dad when you and Jay came along. So I just ignored you two. Please forgive me." He pleaded.
"Why?" I asked.
"I have cancer Richard, I've only got a two months left." He looked at me with pleading, hurt eyes.
"If I could reverse time, I would have never done what I did and I would have tried to be a better father an-"
"I forgive you." I cut him off once again.
"Thank you." His eyes looked full of happiness now.
"Don't thank me, thank Julia. If it wasn't for her I would have never let you in." I looked at Julia, who once again started blushing. She walked over to me. I hugged her when she was within reach. She looked up at me, a smile crossing her face.
"I wish I could live long enough to see grandchildren." He smiled over to me and Julia a tear making its way down his left cheek. I started to tear up as well. It must be really hard on him. I let go of Julia and walked over to hug my now sobbing dad.
"It's ok dad."
"I love you, son" he choked out.
"I love you too, dad."

-three months later-It's been a month since my dad died. It's been hard. I just got him back and then I had to let him go. If I didn't have Julia here with me, I probably would have gone crazy.
"Richard I got you some coffee." I heard her come into my dining room with a steaming cup of coffee. She placed it down in front of me then went around the table to sit across from me. I looked at her then at the coffee.
"Julia, do you want to go to dinner with me tonight?" She looked at me surprised.
"Sure." She shrugged her shoulders after getting over the shock.
Tonight is going to be very special, if she says yes.
