After a long night of drunken singing and slinging back shots of various colours, Opal was beginning to grow tired. She could tell by the looks of the girls face's that the feeling was mutual.
Admittedly, she wasn't actually enjoying herself, the feeling of guilt too preeminent for her to let loose. Despite this, a lazy smile was spread across her face all the same, nodding along as Blair sung the last song of the night. She hadn't actually gained any intel, but rejecting the invite would have been more suspicious.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom," Opal spoke up when the song ended, jumping off the bat stool as gracefully as possible."Anyone want to come?" Opal received a variation of nos in response.
"M'kay." Her words came out in a slurred mess, in reality she was only slightly tipsy but she had to keep up the façade. Opal couldn't remember a time when she'd been able to completely let loose, always having to keep her guard up. Noah had offered to watch over her plenty of times but even then she never felt safe enough.
The walk to the bathroom was excruciating, especially in heels that hadn't left her feet for hours. Opal could already feel the blisters forming, remembering now why she loved her trainers so much. If her sense of direction wasn't so sharp due to her training she was sure she'd have gotten lost by now. She was now on her 8th flight of stairs after 6 or so corridors and various turns.
"In a minute I'll just pee on the floor. You'd think they'd try to avoid drunk people ruining the floors and put the toilets a sensible distance away." She muttered bitterly to herself.
"Oh good you've spoken again, just when my headache had begun to disappear." Lucas deadpanned into the ear piece.
"Fuck," Opal exclaimed almost falling over down the stairs "Don't do that." She could hear Lucas laugh at her fright, mentally cursing him as he did so.
"But it's just so fun." Lucas mocked wickedly.
"Stop talking to me I'm going to look like I'm going mad." Opal peered round the banister to make sure no one was listening to her rambles.
"You're fine I checked the security cameras there's no one near you. They've all gone to the other toilets."
"Good," she breathed out a sigh of relief before she realised, "Wait other toilets? What other toilets?"
"The ones right by the dance floor?" He replied as if it was casual information.
"You let me walk all this way, groaning in pain, muttering to myself like a crazy person?" Opal was seething, she was going to strangle that man. She'd also have to work on these so called navigation skills.
"I just assumed you wanted to be precautions."
"Sure you did."
"God I'm so desperate right now." Opal spoke up after a while.
"Give me ten and I can be there to satisfy those needs." Lucas spoke huskily.
"For the toilet you idiot." Opal sneered.
"Whatever. 5 minutes in bed with me and you'd be begging me to please you." Lucas replied sincerely.
"10 seconds of me batting my eyelashes at you and you'd me begging me."
"Not when I could sleep with any girl I want."
"That's not what I've heard."
"What have you heard?" Lucas scoffed incredulously as if he couldn't believe it.
"Not telling." Opal singsonged.
"Don't play games Carson." Lucas sneered.
"Don't you mean Easton, my loving fiancé?"
"We're not married yet, Carson." Lucas replied, emphasising her surname.
"Carful, wouldn't want anyone beating you treating me so harshly. Anyways, I heard from Georgie that Agent Green rejected you and then slept with Agent Brooks in the hotel room you were sharing."
"That's completely false."
"I'm sure."
"It is." He protested. "I rejected her and then she begged James to sleep with her."
"And Agent Brooks just agreed? Isn't that a bit desperate?"
"Well, not the first time. But he eventually agreed once she told him he could do anything he wanted."
"That's pathetic." Opal scoffed in disgust as she reached the top of the stairs.
"No shit Sherlock."
"Aww, did little Lukie have to camp out in the hallway?"
"Of course not I just had the agency get me another room."
"And had to explain the situation? I think I'd rather sleep on the floor." Opal snorted as she yanked open the door to the hallway where she desperately hoped the toilet would be.
"Why should I feel ashamed that Green is a slut?"
"Easy tiger, you're starting to sound like a sexist pig."
"I'm not saying someone, of any gender, having a sex drive makes them a slut, but when you're at the point of begging and practically forcing yourself upon others then you earn the title."
"At last! I've reached sanctuary. Thank Thor." Opal gasped dramatically as she finally found the toilet.
"You're so dramatic. Thor?" Lucas questioned.
"I'm not religious but I do love mythology, I don't actually worship him it's just fun."
"You're weird, anyone ever told you that?"
"You. Several times." Opal stated as she clambered into a cubicle.
"Am I wrong? You just thanked a mythical God with lightening powers."
"A hot mythical god."
"You know in some mythology he's a grossly obese middled aged ginger man?" Lucas sassed, outdoing Opal with his knowledge. Opal often forgets the extent of his intelligence.
"Hey! Have some respect, he still helps people."
"I thought you didn't believe in him."
"I don't. Now I'm muting myself until I finish peeing." Opal huffed, tapping her earpiece dramatically.
"Nothing I haven't heard before."
"Hello?" Opal questioned upon hearing the bathroom door slam open violently, the force clearly purposely aggressive. Luckily, by this point she had already peed.
"Opal I can still hear you." Lucas informed her in annoyance.
"Ashley is that you?" Opal pressed on when she heard no response from the anonymous person.
"Opal, what's going on?"
"Just a second." She shouted out when someone loudly pounded on her door.
"Opal? I think you muted me instead. Hey? Can you hear me?" Lucas questioned calmly, he always did well under pressure.
"Hey someone's in here use the others." She added when they continued knocking.
"Shit. Okay I'm coming just hang on." Lucas swore, immediately jumping to grab his coat and rush out the apartment.
Opal wasn't stupid, she knew that this person wasn't just a random drunk stranger. They were here for her.
