2. Flashbacks and Arrivals.

Avani's POV:

~Flashback~

1 year... It's our one year anniversary and he's late. Can you believe it?

I was sitting there in the middle of a fancy restaurant waiting for him, dressed to the nine while sipping wine. I finished my first bottle of pinot noir and signalled the waiter for a second bottle. "Late?", He asked me sympathetically giving me a small pitiful smile. I nodded back offering him a small smile since I didn't know what else to say.

This is embarrassing.

Just when I thought I had waited enough. I saw him walk through the door. "Thank god" I sighed.

I eyed his outfit. He was wearing an all black and white tux looking handsome and in all his glory. I rolled my eyes. Can he atleast not look hot when I'm pissed at him. I thought.

"What took you so long I've been waiting here since forever", I whisper-yelled at him giving him a grimace when he took a seat across me.

"I'm incredibly sorry, love please forgive me this one time", he said giving me puppy eyes and a pout. "How could I say no to that" I said giving him a free pass since he's never been late before.
"I've something to show you. Come on", he gave me a big grin while he took one of my hands into his.

He jerked me up onto my feet and paid for the wine on the way out.

Just as I was about to argue he put his finger on my lips and rolled his eyes. "I made you wait that's the least I could have done, now come on!" I shrugged my shoulders knowing there's no point in arguing with this stubborn man.

We made our way to his car and he opened the door for me before getting in himself.

"What happened? Where are we going?" I asked him getting annoyed due to all the haste. "Oh you're going to love it" he said looking at me with a grin on his face before focusing on the road again. I couldn't help but smile at his boyish features.

It was 7:15pm when we reached his place near the beach. He opened the door for me and took my hand before taking me to the backside of his house. His house is really modern with a private beach on the backside.

He stopped midway before putting his hands over my eyes. "What are you doing,Jay?" I asked him while laughing at the silliness of all this. "oh come on Avani have patience", he said and I could hear the smile in his voice.

We stopped after a while and he removed his hands. Wow. That's all I could say when I took in the sight before me. Many candles were laid out forming a path towards a table. There were two chairs across one another and a candle in the middle. It was magnificent. There was a cook at a safe distance from us with a barbecue ready.

I looked over at him "You didn't have to do all this for me." , I said as my eyes teared up. No one has ever done anything like this for me before. He shaked his head with a smile "ofcourse I did Vani. You deserve all of this and much more, beautiful", he said.

I could see the light from the sunset reflecting on his dazzling brown eyes thinking what did I ever do to deserve my bestfriend and boyfriend in one who's been nothing but incredible to me.

"I love you, Jayus" I said meaning it before kissing him.

"I love you, beautiful"he said after we parted, giving me his most beautiful smile.

~XXX~

~Present~

"Ladies and gentlemen the plane has now landed please ensure your safety while getting out", I heard the voice before opening my eyes. I guess we've landed.

I yawned, still tired from the almost 9 hour flight. I was officially jetlagged.
I got out and made my way to the baggage claim. I took my suitcase and looked over the crowd.

I saw a driver in a white uniform in his 40's holding a sign with my name on it. I rolled my eyes. "Ofcourse Dex and Sumeira did this, they always make sure I get to the place safely."

I made my way towards him and smiled "Hello, you are?" I asked politely. "Louis, Avani ma'am. I'm going to be your designated driver today." Louis said smiling. I could guess that he was french from his accent. "Okay, Louis. Shall we?" I asked before making my way towards the car with him.

I got in the car and he started driving after putting all my luggage in the boot.

I decided to dial Sumeira up to let her know I've landed safely.

She picked up after a single ring. "Hey baby, did you land safely?" I heard her cheerful voice question, her familiar voice instantly relived all my nerves. "Yes sumeira, I am in the cab you booked right now and headed towards the dorm." I answered.

"Well good good. Keep calling us from time to time so we don't get worried, ok?" She said sounding abit sad.

"Yes, I will su and please don't worry about me too much. Tell the same to Dex." I said sighing. "Ok baby I'll tell him that once he gets back after gardening." She said while laughing. "Oh god he's still after that, isn't he?" I laughed.

"He is. But atleast he has something to do on the weekends. You know how easily he gets bored." She said. "Yeah well that's Dexter." I replied shaking my head, thinking of him.

"Okay, honey I know you must be tired from the flight so I won't bother you. But please keep calling me, alright?" She said reminding me again. "Yes mom." I said mockingly while rolling my eyes yet smiling. And just like that we said our goodbyes and hung up.

Don't get me wrong. I am very nervous but I just don't want to show it.
How am I supposed to be calm after I've left my only friend behind? How?

I'm now thousands of miles away from the place I've called home for 19 years.

I sighed before looking out of the window in the cab. This is the place I've dreamt about all my life. I couldn't help but feel a little excitement in the pit of my stomach as I continued to look outside while smiling, knowing this is going to be my home for the next few years.

Maybe this is it. This was what I needed. A fresh start.

Things are going to be different this time now that I've been given a second chance.

This will be good.
