15. Period Monsters and Paranoia.

Avani's POV

I woke up in a pool of my own sweat the next morning. I jumped off of my bed and bumped my head against something hard.

Beth was standing right above my head with a hair dryer in each one of her hands, facing towards me. "STOP IT!" I yelled and ran into the bathroom, trying to escape her torture.

Beth started banging on the door while laughing like a crack head. "What drugs are you on so early in the morning?!" I yelled at her through the bathroom door. "Open up, Open up." She started banging louder.

At this point, I was worried that the door was going to fall off of it's hinges.

I washed my face and wiped myself as Beth continued banging the door.

I opened the door and completely ignored her. "I AM DYING, AVANI." She yelled dramatically and fell onto her bed. She started sobbing out of nowhere. "Okay, what's up?" I sighed. "I-i'm on my period. Everything hurts, I'm hungry, I want to beat someone up and I want attention. GIVE ME ATTENTION, VANI!" she yelled.

"Dude, too early. Shh." I hushed her. "Don't shush me! You'll be the person I'll beat up if you fuck with me. Oh also, all our classes for the day have been cancelled. Some maintenance work is going on." She said.

"What do you want to do?" I asked her in a monotonous tone.
"Let's just stay in, cuddle and watch Disney movies. Please???" She made puppy dog eyes at me which eventually made me gave up.

I went into my closet and started picking out an outfit to go get food. I decided to wear a random band tshirt which belonged to my dad and straight fit jeans.

I took my keys, wallet and phone "I'll be back in 30. Do you need anything?" I asked Beth before leaving. "Spicy korean rice cakes. Thanks." She replied without looking away from the tv.

I got into the elevator and started humming to the chorus of 'Good 4 u' by Olivia after putting my airpods in. I've been obsessing over break up songs recently. Fuck relationships.

I got out and started walking towards the exit. There was a pizza joint near by which was connected to a korean restaurant and a convenience store. I walked in the direction of the stores as soon as I left the main college campus.

To be honest, I love times like this where I have a moment by myself. No drama, no tension. Just me, my music, and an empty street. Reminiscing about all the good memories.

I got to the store in around 15 minutes and ordered 2 large pizzas and spicy rice cakes. I walked into the convenience store to get Beth some tampons and sweets.

I was right down in the frozen aisle when I heard someone call my name. The fuck? I thought. I moved and stood up properly, turning around as I disconnected my earpods. I saw no one. Okay, Avani. You've officially lost it. You've started hearing things now. WOW. I sighed.

I checked out some cold drinks, a pack of beer, tampons, chocolate and some snacks and left the store in a rush. This can't be right. I am so sure I heard someone call my name...

I collected all our orders and took a taxi home since I didn't feel like walking. Why am I this paranoid? I thought while fidgeting with my hands.

I got home in a jiffy and pushed the door open with my foot. "Beth. Something weird happened today down at the grocery store." I said after putting everything away.

"Did you see a ghost of your past or what?" She laughed. "I'm serious, Beth. I thought I heard someone call my name and no one was there when I turned around. BUT I AM SO SURE." I explained.

"Calm down. It's probably nothing. Maybe you're just imagining things." She said and started looking for her order.

"Come on, babe. Let's get started with the marathon." She said enthusiastically, swirling her chopsticks at me.

"Let me get changed. Just a minute." I said and left. I changed into a comfy pair of pajamas and an oversized t-shirt. We didn't have plans for the day so a lazy outfit is appropriate.

I walked back into the room and saw that Beth had already taken all the food out and was laying on her bed. "Come 'ere" she said while making grabby hands at me.

I did as she said and gave her a long, blissful hug. I could hear her heartbeat at a quite pace. It brought peace to my mind and made my nerves calm down. "LET'S GOOO BITCH" Beth yelled at the top her voice as I pulled away.

We started of with Mulan but I don't know how and why we ended up watching 13 going on 30, cuddled up in each other and eating the best food.

Man, I literally cried during the climax when Matt said he had moved on from Jenna and she took the dream house outside, crying. Stupid lucy.

"You know, this would have been a perfect date if we weren't straight?" Beth whispered and kissed my cheek.

"Mhm" I agreed and continued eating another slice of pizza. At this point, we had devouvered almost 2 boxes of pizza, 2 servings of rice cakes, a whole pack of beer and chips. "We eat so much and wonder why we gain weight so quickly." I chuckled, giving Beth a look. "Fuck you, you never gain weight unlike me." She said fake crying and left to use the washroom.

"Hey you don't gain weight either. Don't cry." I yelled after her giggling.
