Tohoku Shinkansen line, Sendai -> Tokyo

8:00AM

As the bullet train sped out of another tunnel on its long way down Japan, a boy sat on an empty row looking out the window. He was wearing the Gold-and-Navy uniform of S-City Academy, one of many in the region around Sendai. The name was originally a colloquial expression by its own students, before replacing its original (and much more boring) name of Morioh-Cho Senior High School after an extensive rebrand some years ago.

As for the boy himself, he was slumped into his chair somewhat, resting prior to his arrival in Tokyo at around... 8:10? 8:20? Sometime around then. By almost all accounts, he seemed ready to go to school, with the only contradicting piece of information being his rapid movement away from Morioh.

'Wonder what Honnouji's gonna be like... Seemed pretty interesting on the brochure...' He thought, resting his head on his hand as he stared out of the window.

Bored as he was, he flicked open his phone and scrolled through it absentmindedly as he remembered how he had made this decision to transfer

Bored as he was, he flicked open his phone and scrolled through it absentmindedly as he remembered how he had made this decision to transfer. His life in his old school wasn't bad, per se, it's not like there was serious bullying or anything which pushed him to go... but he just didn't care much for it. He never played an active role in class, and generally interacted with others only if approached - Even with friends, with whom he only interacted within of school grounds.

Although, make no mistake, he went into that role by his own volition. He wasn't antisocial, but more... 'Socially Apathetic'. One bonus of that was he had very few connections to fret over once he decided to transfer.

As for why, over time he started feeling that every day was just a chore. That, along with his continued lack of vision for what he should do once he left, made him decide that a change of scenery - and hopefully, of pace - was needed.

And what better place than Honnouji - new, vibrant, and overflowing with opportunity!

At least according to the brochure... provided by Honnouji Academy.

Said brochure also advertised the almost suffocating diversity of clubs covering every topic under the sun, and quote, "Giving students purpose", unquote. Toshiro was pretty sure at least half of it was exaggerated, considering that they accepted his application a little too easily, giving the impression that they were just trying to scrounge up as many students as possible.

But hey, even then it was still interesting, and what kind of person would he be, if he didn't at least give it a shot? Especially when they were offering essentially zero fees...
