SoftPaw's paws were really beginning to hurt by this point. But she didn't want to tell BlueFeather as she wanted to learn all she could. As time seemed to go by, it began to get darker it seemed.
"It smells like rain is coming." SilverPaw meowed lifting his muzzle, opening it slightly to smell the air.
"Yes, we best hurry. FlameStar and the others will mark our borders by the BlossomClan border." BlueFeather meowed quickening her steps.
Finally, the forest seemed to open up, and SoftPaw could look up to see dark clouds. "I don't think it's just going to rain." She meowed her fur slightly bristling, she hated storms.
BlueFeather clawed at an old stump and SoftPaw and SilverPaw began to help mark the border when they all heard something on the other side.
"Hello BlueFeather." Meowed a calm voice as a a cream tabby she-cat with dark blue eyes appeared on the FireClan side of the border.
"Hello GentleStar," BlueFeather greeted friendly but weary. "I see you're feeling some better."
SoftPaw and SilverPaw got close together after hearing the name GentleStar. As the name suggested, the FireClan leader was normally very kind, which is why FeatherClan and FireClan mostly had been at peace since she became leader.
But the two apprentices were nervous around any other Clan leader other then their own.
GentleStar blinked slowly, "thank you, I'm just spending some time with my apprentice BlackPaw" she meowed as a big tom comes and sits by the leader.
He looked more like a Warrior then an apprentice in SoftPaw's opinion. He was a black Tom, with white paws and a white tipped tail, and piercing emerald green eyes.
"Well, it was nice chatting for a minute." BlueFeather meowed dipping her head respectfully to the other leader. "But there seems to be a storm coming, and these two aren't ready to be out here with it thundering and lightning." She meowed.
GentleStar perked her eyes and eyed the two apprentices curiously. "Who might these two be?"
"This SoftPaw and SilverPaw. Two of FeatherClan's six new apprentices." BlueFeather answered her tail slightly twitching with a hint of annoyance.
"Well congratulations you two," she meowed before turning to BlueFeather again. "tell something to FlameStar for me BlueFeather. It's very important."
SoftPaw couldn't help but notice how uncomfortable BlackPaw seemed to be. He shifted his paws and stared off behind him his ears perked longing to go back.
"What is that?" BlueFeather asked.
"A patrol of mine caught the scent of OwlFang on our territory. He left, but he was very close to your borders. And headed towards BlossomClan territory." The leader explained and BlueFeather's fur began to stand up.
OwlFang? She thought, who is OwlFang? And why does that sound familiar? She wondered. In either case, a cat outside the Clan possibly coming into their territory would cause a lot of tension in the Clan for sure.
"Thank you for the information, I'll tell FlameStar and OakWish." She meowed forcing her fur to lay flat before turning away and signaling with her tail for SoftPaw and SilverPaw to follow close behind them.
They followed but as they did SilverPaw whispered to SoftPaw. "Something doesn't feel right." He meowed.
"Of course it doesn't, I've never seen BlueFeather so on edge just on a name alone, not even with BushWing." She whispered back.
By now, the thunder rolled more loudly overhead and lightning lit up the sky frightening SoftPaw. She got closer to SilverPaw until their pelts were brushing against each together out of fear.
