Professor Leo Kongthanin is a seasoned doctor in internal medicine. He decided to retire after reaching the age of 65 and started to build his own hospital which is more focused on charity work, to help underprivileged people who are sick.
Professor Leo Kongthanin has always wanted his only son, Phana, to return to Thailand and work in his hospital. However, he never stopped Phana who chose to live his profession and life in Australia.
His excitement was unstoppable when some time ago, Phana informed that he would soon return to Thailand to settle down and had received a great position at Jamorhnoom hospital. He was also a little surprised that his best friend from school days—Gary Jamorhnoom had never said a word about it.
Now, in front of him stood a manly and handsome man who looked tired and restless.
Professor Leo Kongthanin recalled the image of a naughty and stubborn boy, the youngest son of Gary Jamorhnoom, who had turned into an extraordinary adult, owner of Thailand's largest electronics company and one of the chief directors of the hospital where Phana would work. So, Forth is the person who has been instrumental in bringing Phana back.
"We have to wait, Forth," said Professor Leo Kongthanin. "He's really critical and his body is very frail. A miracle might wake him up, but I can't promise when that will happen."
Two nights ago, Phana woke his father and said that his best friend Beam, was in critical condition. The scene was very close to the Kongthanin Family Centre, a hospital built by Professor Leo Kongthanin, and without asking for much explanation, he immediately arranged for Beam to be treated.
"B-but he'll survive right, Uncle?" asked Forth nervously. He had not slept for two nights, waiting for Beam who had to go through a long series of surgeries. "He must be safe."
Professor Leo Kongthanin could see fear in Forth's eyes. He patted Forth's arm who was much taller than him gently. "He had a lot of broken and fractured bones, knife wounds, and worst of all, the bullet tore out one of his kidneys. His frail condition puts him in even greater danger because he might end up losing his kidney and that's very serious. dangerous."
"We can find a kidney donor for him," Forth said quickly. "I'd pay anything for it."
"If only it could be that easy, Forth," said Professor Leo Kongthanin. "I've spread information about the need for blood and kidneys. Hopefully there will be good news soon."
"Test everyone possible, Uncle. I'll guarantee the life of anyone who can give Beam a kidney. Test me too."
"We still have to wait until Beam wakes up. Right now, any operation might put his life in danger."
Forth plopped down on a chair, covering his face with both hands. At the end of the corridor, Lam, Kit, and Wayo ran over. They greeted Professor Leo Kongthanin and briefly discussed Beam's condition.
Lam approached Forth and patted him lightly on the shoulder. "Forth, you should go home to rest. You haven't slept and haven't eaten for two days."
"How is it possible, Lam, Beam hasn't woken up yet," Forth muttered weakly.
Kit handed Forth a small bottle and crouched down in front of him. "Drink. This is a supplement I made myself. You need strength to wait for Beam to wake up."
"Thanks, Kit. How are the twins?"
"They're fine, just a little tired and still a little scared. Bob III kept them company and comforted them very well."
"Soon, when it's all over, you can bring Bob III for the kids."
Kit smiled and patted Forth's knee gently. He then sat down next to Lam. Wayo didn't say anything, just patted Forth's shoulder to express his support.
"How are things there?" Forth asked Lam.
"Don't worry about it," Lam said calmly. "Park, Max, Tul, and Ming have cleared them all. Stiff is in jail now and next week all will be processed. This time, Stiff is not only facing charges of corruption and embezzlement, but the most serious is attempted murder and kidnapping. Rose will also be prosecuted for conspiracy charges."
"Never let them see the sun again in their lifetime," Forth growled, clenching his fists. "Tell that to the lawyers."
Lam nodded. He knew how Forth had been holding back, trying to give Stiff and Rose some tolerance and leniency, because of the background they had lived together.
However, this time it seemed that Forth had lost all his patience. Lam took out her cell phone and called Park.
"Kit, can I ask you a favor?" asked Forth quietly.
"Of course, Forth. Tell me, what can I do?"
"Please tell Bob III to pack up my clothes and personal necessities for the next month, and tell Ming to arrange all the paperwork and anything I have to do in the office, sent here."
Wayo touched Forth's shoulder. "I'll arrange for the nurse to add a bed to the room where Phi Beam is being treated. You can live comfortably there."
"Thank you Wayo, you are very helpful."
"Don't worry, Phi Forth, we are all with you on this. After all, this hospital belongs to my father-in-law. Don't worry about anything. I will also arrange for food to be delivered here every day."
"We're going to look at Beam for a bit now," Kit said as he took Wayo's hand. "You rest here first. Come on, Nong Wayo."
Forth leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. He was tired and his whole body ached. The nurse had treated the cuts and bruises from the fight with Stiff, though Forth didn't really care about that. Beam is more important nowadays.
Drowsiness strikes. Forth thought back to what had happened earlier.
Long before he found Beam in the back of his car that day, they had met. Beam was the boy he met sitting on the side of the road with his injured foot without sandals.
Forth is on his way home after camping with Park and Lam. Beam is most beautiful boy Forth had ever seen in his life. Forth ushered the stubborn boy down the street near his house. Forth's admiration for seeing how beautiful the boy was, made him forget to ask his name.
Beam apparently remembers Forth's name and for years after that followed Forth. He must have suffered a lot during that time, while Forth never noticed his presence at all. Yet they were so close.
Tears rolled down Forth's cheeks.
"You never cry for me, Forth."
Forth opened his eyes in surprise. He recognized the voice. "You?"
