"Hello all," the man says as he plunks his papers onto the desk in the front of room. "I am your latest speaker and you will call me Professor Diel.

Mason looks over at me with a smirk and I scrunch my nose in response.

"I will be speaking to you about social circumstances and crisis around the globe that you may encounter in the future. Whether it be diplomatic arguments with a corrupt politician who is claiming diplomatic immunity or immigrants who don't speak English who are being abused by the government and/or its citizens, and the ever popular, the homeless, abandoned, and the poor."

Now we're talking, I think as he begins his lecture of the poverty and children of the streets in Brazil and the labor system. Finally, we have someone who will tell the truth of the current situation in the most frank way possible. I readjust myself in my seat and settle in for a refreshing lecture.

An hour and a half later, Professor Diel concludes with, "The terrible atrocities that these young people face are caused by very simple things; human greed, pride, and denial and that, that is what we need to fix and illuminate others about."

There's an arousal of applause and everyone gets up to leave. "Wow," I say in shock.

"I know right?" Mason responds.

"Told you he talked a lot," Stephan says.

"Are you kidding??" I look at him in shock. "That was so amazing and honest!"

"I'm glad you think so my dear," says Professor Diel from behind me.

"Oh," I blush. "It's just... I can relate to the kids you were talking about and their situations so I found your talk to be honest and unique. I'm Bridget by the way, Bridget Walls."

He chuckles and shakes my hand. "That's fantastic, I'm glad you enjoyed it. My work has taken me all over the world and you would not believe the things I have seen."

"Well, I know I look forward to hearing more. Mason Darrow," Mason presents himself.

"Nice to meet you son," Diels responds after a split second of hesitation and he shakes his hand while studying his face. "What division are you two in?"

"Crimes Against Humanity. Been there for a couple of years myself and Bridget for a year yesterday."

"Oh really?"

"Yes, I love my job. Oh, by the way, this is Stephan Rossoni, a transfer in from Europe."

"Ah yes, I ran into you the other day didn't I?" he inquires.

"Yes sir," Stephan nods, shaking his hand firmly.

"Nice to see you again then," he turns towards me. "It was very nice to meet you Bridget. Mason. Stephan," he smiles and nods at each of us.

"Likewise," I reply. Professor Diels walks towards his desk and goes into the back room of the hall. "He's kinda intense isn't he?" I comment.

"Yeah he kinda is," Mason agrees after looking out at room for a little while.

"You alright?" I ask.

"Yeah, just remembering something..."

"Um okay then," Stephan scoffs. "See you around then?" he asks me.

"Su-sure," I stammer. Why did I do that? The way he reacted to Professor Diel and his talk proves he is obviously ignorant about important things, is cocky, and arrogant with his strange smile and hypnotic eyes.

"What's wrong with you?" Mason laughs.

"What are you talking about? Nothing," I reply maybe a little too quickly. "I just really liked his course and I'm a bit irritated at Stephan for not understanding and being idiotic."
