James Walker, A muscly man with black squinty eyes, that didn't like to wear shirts and goes after what he wants. Casper Wilde, short and husky, charismatic fellow, that is drawn to danger and quick at getting himself out of things. So, everyone calls him Scrappy. Renae Bennet, woman with a willowy figure, an angelic face but a foul mouth and she's quick on the uptake. These three unlikely strangers came together after seeing the small poster on Ms. Stone's Bar.
"Vampires have terrorized our world for too long. Wanna do something about it? Come inside."
Jingle, jingle, jingle. The doorbell rung one after another as the three came in after each other and plotted down in their own seats in the rustic bar.
"Are you the one behind the poster?" James questioned.
"Yea, Sonny."
Creak, creak, creak, Ms. Stone stepped over to James table with her rifle in hand and sat down.
"If you two are interested, come over here."
Renae and Scrappy sat down with James and Ms. Stone.
Ms. Stone tells them of Gutsy and their plan to kill the King in writing in case of listening ears.
"I won't believe until I see it." James stated, clearly skeptical.
"Well, he's out of town right now. But he doesn't want weaklings on his side."
"Who you calling weak, Old Betty?" Renae insulted with a bright smile.
Shatter, click, click, boom, thump. Ms. Stone had swiftly fired her rifle at the vamp that jumped through the window, pinpoint in the heart with a wooden bullet.
"Jeez, now I have to fix that." She stressed, rubbing her hand through her curly, gray hair.
"Whoo," Scrappy whistled in approval.
"I would like to blow vampires to bits." Renae said kindly.
"Okay, firstly let's acquaint ourselves. Mama Stone."
"Scrappy."
"Renae, the one and only."
"James, let's get on with it."
Ms. Stone leads to a closet in the bar. Revealing a horde of guns.
Scrappy's black eyes shined with excitement.
Ms. Stone rummaged through her pockets on her long skirt and gave them each a case of wooden bullets.
"Only shooting some vamps through the heart with wooden bullets will kill them much like a wooden stake. But most, it will only put down. After you put them down, you gotta chop their head off. We're only humans at the end of the day so never face a vamp head-on and definitely not alone, you'll be dead in seconds."
Clink, clink. "Here drink this, it's Vervain, drink it every day. It doesn't kill vampires, but it sure does burn. It's their downfall when they bite you. Now let's see if you can aim. It also prevents ya from being mind controlled."
Ms. Stone drove them to her old home in her truck and showed them a shooting range out back.
"My daddy used to be a cop, and a good one he was."
Click, boom, boom, boom, click, bang, bang, bang.
Ms. Stone has them shooting for hours. Scrappy still hasn't hit the target, James has near misses, and Renae had hit the bullseye 9 out of 10.
"Again!"
Ms. Stone took them back to the bar, after a long while.
"Time for manual labor, you're gonna help me fix up the bar. Think of it as punishment and training."
