Alessandra Drakkon

Queen of the Drakkon Empire

"Ok, someone here has to tell me what a Centennial is, because I just heard about it over my lunch and I am very curious." I look to my guards with unrestrained curiosity, I knew it had to be some weird thing the royals and nobles did, anything weird but extravagant had something to do with them.

"It's a of party of sorts." Tanza offered up finally, looking reluctant to even speak of it, what sort of things happened at this party if she didn't want to speak of it to me.

"Is it some sort of sex party? Because I have to say that I wouldn't think it had anything to do with something like that based on the way the nobles were talking about it." Yanu raises up a hand to stop Tanza from replying.

"No, it is not some sort of orgy party, but it does have to do with sex in a way, but probably not in the one you would expect. As you know marriage between anyone, but two royals only lasts for one hundred years, hence the name of the event, Centennial. All available nobles or married couples who have reached the year of their hundredth year married together meet up at a designated place. This is a huge event, even certain nobles from other houses can obtain invitations if they are fortunate enough. In other words, it is a way for married nobles to see if they would like to renew their marriage or risk it with someone new. It is an event to meet and greet all the highest of society. The celebration originated here in the Drakkon Empire, it is quite the exclusive event, not even all the noble families are allowed to attend, single or not, you have to have enough influence to meet their standards." I raise an eyebrow, wondering who was supposed to be running this exclusive event.

"And whose standards do they ascertain to meet if the ruler of their empire does not set them?" Interesting to see who had a bit more clout than the actual Queen of the Drakkon Empire, at least among the nobles.

"Well, you of course own the property, and it has been overseen by many people over the years, but the person who currently runs it is Lady Taarique, second primary of house Drakkon." I raise an eyebrow at this actually surprised upon hearing that.

"That surprises me, I thought all the Drakkon royals were currently single?" But then again that didn't really make sense because I knew Taarique had daughters, had even seen them on my first day here, if only for a moment.

"They are but how do you think Taarique got all her kids? For nobles when a marriage contract is over, if a child has been produced then a portion of each of the parent's wealth goes to the child, and because Lady Taarique is not only a royal but the head of her line she governs over her children's wealth as well, and if they die or are somehow disinherited their wealth will go to her." I nod slowly understanding it, but at the same time finding it hard to believe.

"I can't imagine Taarique going through child-birth that many times. She has to have at least half a dozen children if not more from what I saw on my first day here, when she tried to show off her power to me." Yanu chuckles at me shaking her head like she couldn't believe what I was saying.

"Well, she wouldn't have ever gone through childbirth, the necessary materials to create a child are taken from both parents and planted in a surrogate that is paid handsomely to carry the child to term. The Entitled do no risk women of high bloodlines needlessly in childbirth. You are such a great Queen your majesty that I sometimes forget that you didn't grow up here, meaning you don't know some of the little things." That was interesting, and it made a lot more sense as to why Taarique had so many daughters then.

"So how many daughters does she have then? None of the other Drakkon royals have children, do they?" I had been so focused on the main players among my family, being the ones holding the title of primary, that I didn't even think about anyone else possibly being a threat to me.
