Alessandra Drakkon
Queen of the Drakkon Empire
"Do I really have to go to this stupid thing." I was not in the mood to socialize and pretend that I liked any of the nobility, this party was going to be full of that, hence my reluctance to go.
"Your majesty, it is tradition, you've started the divorce process from King Cedric, leaving you single and able to attend the Centennial. You will wrong Lady Taarique by choosing not to show up, do you really want her to feel offended by you after she almost succeeded in throwing a coup against you." I frown, my reflection showing me my displeased expression in the mirror, I put down the hairpin I was fiddling with as Yanu does my hair, pinning it into a half updo, the remaining of it in loose curls down my back.
"Screw Taarique, if she wants to go against me, we'll see how well she fairs." I knew that I had to do this, it might provoke a reaction in Cedric finally, so I could stop waiting in dread for it, as well as give me a chance to punish Taarique if she decided to get lippy tonight, which I knew she would, she wouldn't be able to help it.
Glittering diamonds dangled heavily from my ears, the silver eyeshadow shimmered back at me in the mirror, highlighting my purple eyes, the pale pink lipstick tied the look together without looking overwhelming. My entire outfit had been chosen for me tonight, I had yet to even see it, only knowing that it must be pale in color, because all my makeup and accessories reflected that, Tanza had even painted my nails a glimmering silver, Yanu finally places a gleaming diamond circlet on my head, it was crafted with small feather shaped extensions, flaring out like leaves every few centimeters, with a large tear drop diamond hanging off the pointing dip in the middle of my forehead, two smaller teardrop diamond hung down on either side of my head by my temples. She steps away from me, finished with my hair, for now at least, leaving Tanza to bring over the dress.
It was beautiful, an off the shoulder dress with silver and diamond armbands, that flowed all around the dress, leading to points in both the front and the back where they met small blue feathers that got bigger the further, they were away from the bust until they turned into large feathers that almost reminded me of peacock feathers, though without the changing colors.
I take a deep breath and allow them to cinch me into the dress, having already put on the diamond heels they gave me. "Is all this really necessary? They have to know I am extremely wealthy what is the point of showing it off like this? I don't need to be dripping in this many gems, its heavy." Yanu smirks at me, knowing that while I might have liked the look of it all, I would much rather choose comfort over style.
"Your majesty, you are the Queen of this Empire for better or worse, you can't just show up to the Centennial in a normal dress, you have to stand out completely and believe me, many others will be close to outdoing you in ostentatiousness." I couldn't imagine anyone managing to outdo this, but I had been surprised by some of the nobilities' choices in dress before.
"This isn't just about finding a partner, this is about making connections and impressions, and I know you may not like these types of parties, but the fact of the matter is that since you went off to find your father, you've missed a great deal of these events, not that you ever really attended them before. You need to make a lasting impression on the nobility, and this is how you do it, by making any of them believe they might have a chance to be the next King Consort of Drakkon, whether it is the truth or not." Tanza adds after Yanu's own argument and I know that I've run out of excuses, I was going to this event whether I really wanted to or not.
"You must be the first royal ever, who doesn't like throwing parties and celebrations in order to flaunt off your wealth and power. If Taarique was Queen, you know she would probably have a party every night to celebrate her power." I turn my head quickly to give Yanu a sharp glare, she looks down at the floor submissively, knowing she crossed a line with that sentence. "My apologies your majesty, you know I meant nothing by it." I huff and look away, knowing she hadn't meant anything by it but being angered all the same by referring to Taarique as if there was even a possibility for her to take over my position, that was treason, even if it wasn't meant as that.
