a/n: you might want to go reread the last couple chapters if you need a refresher. sorry for not updating, i really didn't think anyone was reading this story lol.
My eyes shoot open to the ear rattling, repetitive sound of my alarm clock. I quickly reach around for my phone, shutting the god awful sound off as soon as possible. I close my eyes to try and bask a few more minutes of rest before school. School. I open my eyes when I feel movement on my lap. But I'm not in my bed, I'm in the back of a car. I look down to see Harry stirring below me, head rested on my lap. The memories of what led us here flash back through my mind.
I pick up my phone, attempting to check the time but being caught off guard by the 50 missed calls from my parents and brother and the 200 more missed texts from them. I perk up off the seat, fully realizing the situation I'm in, also realizing the pain in my neck from sleeping upright in the back of a car all night.
"Harry, wake up." I shove him below me, but he just groans and digs his head deeper in my lap, covering his face from the rising sun. My alarm goes off at 7 AM so I know the time, but I don't know what to do from here. "Harry, I'm serious. Get up." I shove him harder and he finally starts to wake himself up.
His eyes open and he turns his head to look at me, and then around the car. The unfamiliar situation makes him sit up. "What- What happened?" He asks between a yawn. His morning voice sounds fresh and raspy. "Why are we... in my car?" He looks out the window to the gym. "At the gym?"
"What do you remember from yesterday?" I ask as I try and massage my neck and shoulders.
"Uhm," He starts as he tries to think, "I remember getting ready for the fight and then Cecily-" He stops talking right before the part of the story that I would dearly love to know. He clears his throat. "How did I end up here?"
"You showed up for your fight an hour late, high off your ass. And then you punched a wall." I vaguely fill him in as he looks down at his hand. He looks at me and his eyes are red, but this time from sleep and not illicit drugs. "You needed to sit down and sober up... We must've fallen asleep." I say as I look around for my phone and keys to the gym.
"Did I... What did I tell you?" He asks alarmingly.
"Nothing. Don't worry." I say dryly as I pick up my phone to read my texts. The most recent calls came in only a couple hours ago, so my parents must have stayed up waiting for me. "I need you to take me to school." I tell him as he rubs his face trying to wake up.
He nods. "Okay. Yeah, okay." I open the car door and hop out. "Where are you going?" He asks before I can close the door.
"My parents are pretty pissed at me for not being home right now. I have to make some calls." I tell him right before I close the door. I'm pretty upset right now, for a multitude of reasons. Particularly because Harry is the reason I'm not at home right now, but also because I'm tired and it's 7 AM.
I go and sit on the curb and press on my moms contact, dialing her number. I don't even really know what I'm going to say yet.
"Dakota? Dakota?" I hear her posh accent through the phone. I knew she'd be up, she's probably on her way to work right now.
"Yes, Mum. I'm here I'm sorry."
"Are you alright? Where the hell are you?" She practically screams through the phone.
"Yeah I'm fine Mum, I'm sorry. I was doing paperwork late at night and fell asleep in my office. I'm so sorry." I lie right through my teeth, hoping she'll believe me.
"You could've called and warned us? We've been worried sick!" As she speaks through the phone, Harry gets out from the back seat and moves to the drivers seat, eyeing me as he walks.
