Lauren sits on the edge of the bridge, looking down at the turquoise river. The thought of the argument she had only been in an hour ago. The girl plays with her hands, replaying the words she thought she'd never have to hear from her "best friend"
"your just like your sister"
The words rang through her ears like drums, the voices getting louder every few words, Lauren covering her ears with the palms of her hands. The girl closes her eyes for a few seconds, trying to forget about the voices in her head.
"you praying?" Lauren hears, the voice muffled from her hands over her ears. She takes her hands away, a small grin appearing onto her face as she looks at the water.
"you know, your not very supportive" Lauren says, looking round at the boy behind her.
"I dated you for 3 years, Lauren, i think ive supported you enough"
"sorry for being an emotional wreck Kaydn" Lauren jokes, a small chuckle escaping her lips, "but no, i don't need your support today"
"why you look so pissed" he says, sitting on the wall next to her.
"the toxic bitch"
"see! i knew the name was catchy" he says, looking down at the water with her, "what she do this time?"
Lauren takes in a deep breathe, debating on weather to tell the boy about her past, or not to.
"i don't know" she says, shaking her head.
"you don't know?" Kaydn asks, looking up at the girl, "you don't wanna tell me huh?"
"no, it's not that it's just-"
"i get it, don't worry about it alright?"
the two sit in silence for a bit, admiring the scene around them before Lauren notices her hands begin to shake, intrusive thoughts beginning to enter her mind.
The girl starts to whisper things to herself, counting her fingers in figures of eight repeatedly, catching the attention of Kaydn.
A few tears brim in the girls eyes, the feeling of not being able to control her OCD becoming over whelming for her.
"hey hey, it's okay" he says, holding onto Her hands to keep them still, "control it Lauren"
"i-i can't" she says, taking deep breathes, "s-she's coming back"
"who? Lauren" he says, looking at her with deep concern in his eyes.
"my sister...i can feel it" she says, looking at the boy with Fear, kaydn giving her hands a reassuring squeeze.
"she won't do anything to you Lauren, i won't let her"
The silence becomes present again, Lauren's hands beginning to settle as the intrusive thoughts leave her mind, a sense of calmness lingering around the two.
"a-a few years ago, before i met you, my sister was still living with me and my family"
"lauren, you don't-"
"no, i want too, i need to tell someone" she says, looking down at the water, "she's 4 years older than me...so she would come home drunk on a regular basis and usually high too...god she ruined the house way to many times"
"she would start arguments with my Brother, and usually he'd end up hurt...a few times he was at the hospital" she says, looking up, "we all cut her off best we could, but, a few months ago she contacted me, asking me for Money because she spent all hers, and i'm pretty sure it was on drugs and all that"
"wow...lauren, that's, that's horrible" Kaydn says, "she didn't hurt you, did she?"
"oh, yeah of course she did, she went for me first, but then my brother found out and being the older brother her is, exploded on her...so from then on she stuck with Evan"
"i loved your brother as well..."
"i think we both did, he's on a business trip in Australia so he couldn't come but he's gonna watch and hopefully come home after"
"i'm sure he's proud of you...i think we all are" Kaydn says, looking at the girl, still holding her hands in his.
"i hope so, i mean, i made it to eurovision" she laughs, looking at the boy, "which speaking off, the first semi finals tonight and Elenas on"
"Elena?"
"yeah, cyrpus, you know, El diablo?"
"oh, OH YEAH! the one who looks like she has wet hair but really it's just styled like, really well?"
"i mean...yeah, i guess your right" Lauren says, laughing along with him.
"Lauren Davies, when am i not right? i was correct about you making it as a singer, i was correct about the toxic bitch AND i got this correct too"
"woah woah woah, calm your ego there Kaydn" Lauren says, nudging him in the side.
"you know, Lauren, i'm really happy you decided to open up to me today, and, i feel like i can finally open up to you..."
"yeah, of course, what's up Kaydn? don't tell me your frog died..."
"what? no! wank off is great!" he says, "no this, this is a little more serious.."
"more serious than wank off the frog?"
"yes Lauren, just please listen..." he says, "me and you, we've been through so much together, with all the cheating scandals and the good and the bad memories, but behind all that, we were friends, best friends almost, a-and after this, i don't want you to think of me any differently and if you listen to what i have to say and think, i don't want to be around this man anymore, then...i get it"
"woah Kaydn, yes of course...you can tell me"
"okay okay, here goes nothing" Kaydn takes a deep breathe, looking at Lauren dead in the eye, "lauren...i-"
