Throughout Aizawa's patrol that night, his mind replayed the conversation he had with the girls earlier that evening. He would be lying if he said he hadn't expected this conversation to come up but he thought that he would have more time. Aizawa had met countless kids dreaming to become heroes, he is a teacher at a heroics school and was one of those kids himself, but being a hero means he knows the struggles and dangers. Those girls had snuck into his heart and made it hard for him to let them train to become a hero only to have to live every day with the chance that you might die that day. It did not help that their counterargument to that was so heartbreaking, despite being so young they have already faced those life-threatening days. Lucy had even thrown the bomb at him that she had already seen herself die.

Groaning Aizawa shook his self out of those depressing thoughts so he could stay vigilant. One slip-up could cost his or someone else's life. Soon the quiet streets were interrupted by the sound of feet pounding against pavement. Slowly Aizawa raised from his crouching position, careful not to let his joints pop, as he crept forward he lowered his yellow goggles over his eyes. Shortly a small figure came running down the alley. Once the person was close enough, Aizawa was able to tell that is was just a little kid with a yellow backpack. Wanting to end things quickly he jumped down from his vantage point into the boy's path.

"What are you doing out so late kid? Especially in a place like this?" Aizawa asked as soon as the boy stopped, not wanting him to cry out in fear and let possible villains or thugs know where they were.

The young boy leaned over panting, holding up a finger as he caught his breath. This gave Aizawa the chance to study the boy who seemed to be about Wendy and Lucy's age. He had a round pale face with a few freckles on them, and bright emerald eyes that seemed to take in every detail about a person. Those perceptive eyes were glancing around anxiously, along with how he jumped at every noise.

"I'm sorry sir it's just that the only place that sold the limited edition All Might figure that I wanted was far away from my home. So I spent too long there looking at everything else that I had missed the last train home." The boy continued to ramble about unnecessary things until Aizawa brought him back, similarly to how he brings Wendy back on track when she rambles, "Oh, yes sorry. Well, when I was walking home these guys tried to jump me so I ran this way since it is the quickest way to the main road."

Aizawa glanced in the direction the kid was running to and squinted: "Kid that is a dead-end to a bar where it is known to have thugs. The alley you are talking about is a block over."

As he was talking a clanging noise sounded from behind the boy, making him jump and turn around.

"Just stay behind me kid and don't get in the way."

Emerging from the corner, a group of men staggered towards them. At first, Aizawa couldn't tell why this group of drunks had scared the boy so much until he saw the last guy. From his head extended a thin blue string that connected to the drunken men's necks. All the men straightened when the quirk user saw them. From what Aizawa could tell, the man's quirk seemed to control the other men.

"Huh, it seems the little twerp isn't as dumb as he looks, I thought this would be an easy catch with you running to my den," The quirk user said, the other men copying a little after one another creating an unnatural echo.

Sighing Aizawa stepping in front of the boy as he spoke: "It has been a long night already, so let's cut to the chase and get this over with."

The man cackled, creating that echo again, "You really think you can take me on? Seven against one, you are right about one thing. This will be over quickly for you, especially since people like you can't use their qui-"
