Chapter 13
This was the first time Daniella was this shocked. How negative was Andrew? She noticed how enormous his wardrobe was. But something else awed her apart from his enormous wardrobe. She trully and literally saw none that was coloured, black to the core. He really loved beanies. She could swear they alone were more than her clothes.
Apart from his clothes, the air was positive and the trip, hopeful. The result from the lab scientist two days ago had shortened their entire investigatory time by half. Now Eleanor's death was solved, Ashley was left. And as soon as that was done, the story about Jennifer would spontaneously come around.
From the police reports three years ago, Eleanor was shot with a nine millimeter bullet that came from a pistol.
Alex hadn't disposed off the gun his sister had been killed with due to fear of his exposure.
His fingerprints and Eleanor's blood were found on it. Andrew had already told the entire police force in Texas as he gave the gun Night had gotten to them.
The fingerprints belonged to Alexander Davis who probably had his hands on the gun before a more careful, masked killer may have used it with a glove.
The little blood on the gun had matched those on the bullets gotten from Eleanor. They knew who were involved but not the one who played the cards; the masked man. Andrew had left that fact for the police to find out and a request not to take action until he found out about Ashley, proved Angus's innocence in Newyork and returned for the overall finale. Luckily, they had agreed to that and decided to keep their eyes on Alex while he was gone.
Andrew folded in jackets into his duffel bag, put a gun in his belt and two more into his bag, then a whole belt of bullets.
Daniella gasped while looking at him and realised that this person she loved was a rebel.
Andrew faced her and dragged his polo over his gun, "We'll leave first thing tomorrow morning."
She nodded to the order in his eyes and zipped up her own bag.
He walked up to his window while making a phone call. Sighing, Daniella turned to the door and headed for the store. The store... Starting downstairs, she walked through the dining room to the smaller space that opened out of it.
Pushing the door open slightly, she sighed. There were a lot of boxes and one of them had her shoes, but which?
"Can I help?" A voice asked from behind her.
Turning, she found Andrew's elder brother, Simon, "Uhmm... Sure, I could use that now."
Simon closed the door behind them and watched her search each box for whatever she was looking for, "What are we looking for?"
Dani paused and faced him, "A bunch of girly shoes and some costumes I need to return to some friends."
He nodded and began searching,  continuing the chatter, "You used to perform?"
Smiling, she glanced at him, "Well, just this one time before I left school. I was terrible."
Simon hid a chuckle, "To me, you don't look terrible at anything."
"Me... Thank you, " she grinned, "although that's not completely true." She continued flipping more boxes open.
"Well..." He shrugged, "People are bad at things and good at others. I may be beautiful at using pistols but I'm terrible when it comes to cooking."
Daniella wobbled her head amusingly, "Well, food wouldn't save you when you are at a tightspot, would it?"
Simon creased his brows, "How about I teach you how to use a pistol and you teach me that omelette. I'm the pistol master in the family."
She did not know when she said it, but she did, "Why not? My life for omelettes, no problem."
After she had found her box of costumes, they both turned to leave when they noticed Andrew leaning against the doorpost, "I'm sorry, did I disrupt anything?"
Daniella noticed the sarcasm in his voice but Simon went on, "Oh no, we were just chit-chatting."
"Wow, " Andrew smiled, "Cool. Sorry,  I thought I heard you say you wanted to teach her pistol shooting. I hope I was wrong."
Simon chuckled and looked down.
Stepping in, Andrew gave Daniella an undefined look before sending his gaze back to his brother, "Danielle, let's go. We have a flight tomorrow."
Daniella motioned to walk past him when he grabbed her arm.
Pulling her close, he hugged her and sent a look to his brother.
Simon grinned, understanding the warning and threat in his brother's eyes he did not mean to listen to.
Andrew then narrowed the blue gaze, a look of ownership. One that read, "Stay off."
                      *                 *                  *
Andrew Stephen watched the revolver in his grip,  standing outside Ruby Anderson's home. He hated having the female residents of the estate stare at him as they passed by. Leaning on his jaguar car, he tried convincing himself that it was all because of Daniella. He just had to wait for her, protect her.
Bailey drew the curtains shut and screamed, "Andrew Stephen's here. OMG! Ask him to come in Dani."
Dani frowned,  "Did I come to see you or bring Andrew to see you."
Kella sobbed, "Okay. We'll miss you while you're away but... C'mon! Just two minutes."
Daniella groaned hard and faced her, "No! Besides, you'd just regret it."
Ruby glanced outside and pitched in, "Why?"
Dani stated the obvious, "He is a bit cold."
Kella screamed again, "I know right! The kind we love to claim. Tell me Dani, how good is he, cuddles, kisses and... The likes."
Daniella glowered at her but realised something, "Truth is, he hasn't laid a finger on me."
The three chorused with despair, "You're joking right?"
"No, " she shrugged, "He has never tried... Romance and stuff. Nothing to be surprised of."
Kella studied the figure with the gun outside the window and believed, "Very possible. He looks so cold to be romantic. But I'll tell you one thing Daniella. That dude you see out there has a lot in store and... I just feel you are missing out. Try him."
When Bailey looked out the window, she could not find him anymore, "Noooo.. Just when I was about to look at him."
But soon enough, she lost her balance as he stepped into the room, "Let's go Danielle."
Ruby stared at Dani with awe; that he-even-calls-you-Danielle type of look.
Daniella groaned and glanced at Andrew who gave her a look begging her to obey quickly. Besides, he did not think he was comfortable watching these girls gawk at him like that.
Bailey broke the awkward moment, walking up to Andrew and ignoring Dani's silent warning, "Hi. I'm Bailey."
Andrew stared blankly and faced Daniella again desperately, she seemed to be enjoying this.
Bailey continued, "And this is Kella and that's Ruby. We are Dani's very good friends."
When the two waved from behind, he forced a nod which gradually changed to a frown when Bailey placed a hand on his shoulder.
He shrugged it off,  glanced at Dani and walked out. They were Dani's friends, so he was being polite.
She gave her friends a stare, "Warned you."
They heaved sighs of sadness but Kella quickly added, "When you're back, tell us about the kiss."
Groaning, Dani walked away.
After she had gotten into the jaguar and buckled her seatbelt,  she frowned at Andrew, "Why the rush?"
He replied while fumbling with the car keys, "I'm sorry ma'am but unfortuantely for you, your safety is my priority."
After cutting the fake formality in his tone, he continued sternly, "Alex's team is looking for us."
"Us, " she grimaced, "and how do you know that."
He did not answer. Rather, he showed her. Driving down a lain as slowly as possible, they sighted a Ford that drove around aimlessly, being followed by two small saloon cars.
Facing her, Andrew now replied, "He's been around me for some time now. That's Alex. I feel he's tracking us or something."
When the car set into reverse, Andrew quickly parked his at the back of a gauzed fence and bent low, his gaze still somehow fixated on them.
Daniella watched. The occupants had descended from the car; Alex and Thomas. Someone else was shaking his head in a negative, indicating he hadn't found who they were looking for, them.
Andrew groaned, "I see those two fools are not grateful I left them alive."
Daniella stared at him sternly and saw his face gradually fill up with fear.
Turning back to the scene, she searched for what had frightened Andrew.
Slowly, a masked man emerged from one of the saloons with a pistol in his hand.
To Daniella, he really did love pistols, "They came to kill me?"
Andrew replied cooly, "No. They came to take you so they could kill me. It's your phone that is being tracked."
She swallowed and watched them again, another problem.
