There they were

There they were: Luke laying atop Alex, Alex smiling down at him— just inches from kissing him. Alex was to lost in Luke and Luke was to worried about the journal to worry about the thudding that came toward their room. It was Mitch. He has heard Luke thump to the ground in efforts to retrieve the journal back, so he came to check on them.
"Oh, what's goin' on?" Alex looked up at Mitch who stood ghostly still in the door.
"Dad, dad, we were just, we were playing twister?" Though, it wasn't a question, it soundly like it.
"Don't you need, like, a spinner and mat for that?" Mitch saw right through them.
"Dad, don't tell mom."
"We'll talk in the morning. Alex, I think you should head home." Mitch left with no further words.
"I can't go home, Luke don't make me go home."
"Uhm, I think," He propped himself to his knees, away from Alex. "You should go home and take care of Talia. She probably needs you more than me."
"No, she's fine. Luke, please."
"You should go." Luke slid the floorboard back into its place and slumped into bed. "I'll talk to you tomorrow." He looked so ashamed and scared.
Alex leaned over the bed to kiss his forehead but Luke wiggled down in bed and rolled over. "Good night."
Alex slid out the window, taking the risk jumping down to the soft grass. He was so confused why Luke had just changed on him. Mitch didn't seem mad. He seemed confused. It was two am and they were nearly about to kiss on the floor. Anyone would be confused.
"Bobby?" Alex's voice shook.
"Yeah bud?" Bobby's voice was groggy, like he had just been woken up.
"Can you come pick me up? I'm outside Luke's house."
"Why can't he bring you home?"
"We, uh, aren't on good terms right now apparently. It's just, I'll tell you later."
When Bobby pulled up in his way too nice car, Alex slipped in and broke down.
"Luke and I are dating. We have been for a couple months. We were looking at stuff on the floor and Mitch walked in and he told me to go home but I thought Luke would stand up to him, but he didn't. Bobby, what if he breaks up with me?" Words slipped out and Bobby just listened.
"Are you guys happy together?"
"What?"
"Are you guys happy together?"
"Yes."
"Then don't worry. He'll come back around in no time. It's Luke, he does things Luke style. And he'll need Luke time to process the fact his parents know now. It was hard telling your parents I'm guessing."
He understood so much somehow.

The sun rose over San Francisco and Alex slept huddled under a silk comforter. He had crashed at Bobby's, which was better than Luke's anyway. That's what Alex spent the night convincing himself.
"Talia is here," Bobby shook Alex who only groaned. He was so tired.
"Alex? Are you sick?" She felt his forehead for fever. "Bobby did he seem sick last night?"
"No, but I think you two should talk." Bobby slapped Alex's head and he sat up in time to see him walk out of the room and shut the giant door. (seriously, why does a door have to be like 12 feet tall?)
"What is he talking about? Are you hurt or something? Alex why do you keep running off?"
"No, Tal, I'm not hurt. I'm not sick. I'm fine. I'm completely fine. It's about something else. Have you eaten?" Alex spent his whole life caring for Talia when his parents were too busy to be parents. Talia was now fourteen, with super dark brown hair that contrasted Alex's.
"What is it? Daddy is losing his mind!"
"I'm sorry. Okay. Me and someone are dating and I think we're on a break so I had Bobby come pick me and up I crashed here last night."
"Oooo, who is she?"
She.
She.
"Oh she doesn't go to Elwood. Her name is— Lucia. Yeah Lucia Packel."
"Never heard of her. Is she pretty?"
"Very." The eyes. The floppy brown hair. The smile. Yeah, he was really pretty.
