I've been in the Duke's residency for over a week now, and it's been quite peaceful. My egg hasn't hatched yet, but it made sense since my Pokémon and I weren't gaining any experience from killing the monsters of this world. Still, I got to enjoy a nice, comfy bed and long hot, aromatic baths. Embry and Keiko love the bath. As for Alice, I had to use a damp clean towel to wash her otherwise, she'll freeze the bathtub.
Also, I finally got to see what I look like. No doubt, I had to be ten-years-old, though I seem shorter than 10. Also, I strangely resemble the Pokémon trainer Hilda from Pokémon black and white. Huh. How strange.
Other than the bedroom and the bath, there was also good food. The meat they cooked came from the hunters that went out to the dreaded woodlands. Otherwise, most of the food were vegetables, crops, berries, and fruits. Upon the Duke's request, I cooked some curry. Only Rosetta didn't want to eat it.
Ah... Rosetta. Duke Crescente's daughter.
I think she's jealous.
From just the first week, I noticed the Duke hardly spent any time with her, and if they did, it would just be the one-hour dinner time. Although, neither of them had spoken a word to each other, so I don't really think that counts as father and daughter bonding. Just an empty sentence here and there of "I'm fine" and "I have a lot of work".
Other than dealing with Rosetta's attitude, I spent my time in the training grounds doing exercises with my Pokémon. I had Alice and Embry practice their moves against each other with Keiko cheering for them on the side and having a snack. I always made sure Keiko had snacks to eat. Hearing her cry always make me sweat and panic.
Anyways, Alice and Embry weren't gaining any levels, but their stats were slightly rising for every day that we do this.
All the while, Lady Rosetta was watching us.
Well, mostly she's watching my vulpix.
That day, when we ended training, I caught her still hiding behind the bush, peeking her head out. She quickly ducked her head when we made eye contact, but it was too late.
"Heeeey! Lady Rosetta! Would you like to come over and say hi to my Pokémon?" I asked.
Come on. Come out. No one can resist the charm of an adorable little Pokémon, let alone three of them.
A few seconds later, she started coming out reluctantly.
She approached us with as much dignity as she could muster as she did a little curtsy before me.
"Greetings. We haven't really spoken, but I am Rosetta Crescente. Duke Crescente's first and only daughter," she said. "You must be that orphan girl my father brought him."
I kept a straight smile, but seriously? What is she playing at? I've been here for a over a WEEK now, little girl, and these are the first words you share with me? You're so lucky you're the duke's daughter, or I'd be ripping you apart with my snarky sarcasm.
But I'm an adult in mind and soul. I can handle this level of sassiness.
"Yes. I saved your father's life and his soldiers!" I expressed that out loud and she visibly flinched, grimacing.
She cleared her throat as she turned her head away. "Ahem. Yes. You have my gratitude."
This girl, Rosetta, is a lot of work to get through.
"Vulpix...?"
Alice was brave enough to approach Rosetta, sniffing at the air near her at least a meter away. Embry stood by ankle watching with a title head. Meanwhile, Keiko was just happily munching on some biscuits.
