"Portland? Like, across the whole country Portland? Why were they even here in New York if their base is that far away?" Now Emma could see the problem her dad had with this. Portland was across the country. Because Sam would probably need to fly with the Avengers, Emma couldn't. Sure, she could just wear her suit for the flight, but Sam was in her class. He knew her. He even had trained his observation skills by watching her from afar. In a fight he wouldn't be able to draw the lines from Emma to the new vigilante since she wouldn't talk much and during a fight you couldn't waste time to observe your alley instead of your enemy. Emma would have to fly alone or with Peter to get to Portland safely.

And of course that didn't sit right with Tony. He was her dad after all. "You know where my problem is? It's either you have to fly across the country alone or your classmate finds out that you're a vigilante. And if he can connect the dots, he'll figure out even more he's not supposed to know."

He was visibly worried but Emma's nerves had been on the edge for a good while now and this just sounded like a very, very lame excuse. Maybe even worse than Sam's.

"First of all: I could wear my suit on the flight. Secondly, he's only not supposed to know about my real name because you decided it to be that way. You could simply come up with another lie to keep it that way. It's your decision. I'm going either way." She turned around and walked back to her room. She still needed to load the backup of her old StarkPad onto her new one. She put on her headphones and turned her music up.

In the kitchen the heroes kept on discussing and putting together a plan. Even through dinner the table was full of papers. Emma just walked in the kitchen, grabbed a plate with food and went back to her room. The others didn't even notice her. They stayed up late until they had a plan to engage as soon as possible.

As Emma walked into the kitchen the next morning the table was still plastered with papers but no heroes were around. She made herself a bowl of cereal and sat down at the table. Looking through the papers, she found blueprints and some reports from observations. With a marker the others had written on the glass table and created a plan.

"Oh good, you're awake. I see you already read through the plan."

Emma nodded as she walked around the table to read the last notes Steve had scribbled down beside a picture of the base. She stumbled over the last point. "What is this?" She pointed at it and looked up at her dad.

He was completely unfazed and answered after of factly. "The time your flight takes off."

She knew that. "I see that but why? I can just come with you guys in the quinjet." She put her dishes away while Tony sat down at the table.

"You go ahead. Peter will probably do the same. If he's awake early enough to answer my texts…"

Her dad didn't get it. "Why would you let me go ahead. The gang knows my face best out of all the Avengers. Remember?"

Tony murmured in agreement. He did overlook that part. "Then we'll make sure to get there as soon as your plane lands."

Emma could argue but she had no energy left for that today. She rolled her eyes and went back to her room. She needed to pack her bag. Her flight was taking off in a few hours.

"Stark? Like Tony Stark? Ironman?"

And there it was another forced lie. "Lucky coincidence, right?" She smiled at the lady behind the counter before she walked over to the security check. After she was finally sitting in the plane and they finally started, Emma pulled out her headphones. The old man next to her shot her a look but she ignored him. Her day had started out good before she had walked into the kitchen. She was already done with lying for the day. In Seattle she would need to find a place to put on her suit before she would join the others on the quinjet.
