"Well I was but…I had to go back…because I..eh..I forgot…my phone...yes my phone. And you, what are you doing here? We don't have school and you want to work more?" He tried to change the topic drastically.
Emma struggled to hide her grin. It was funny how the guy that cracked jokes and sassy comments non-stop during a fight struggled when it came to hide a secret when confronted directly. "Yeah. It's not really in my hand. I'm an intern and sometimes Mr Stark asks for my help with Avengers stuff. Who can say no to that?"
She looked down onto the StarkPad once more. Her dad had answered. He had watched the whole thing and told her to bring him up. She set Dora's tablet down and logged herself out. "Wait here. I'll be right back." She walked to the back to grab a StarkPad herself. She logged herself in before making her way back into the lobby. This time on the other side of the counter.
Sam hadn't seen her coming from behind and jumped a little as Emma suddenly stood behind him.
"Just me." She walked past him and led him to the elevator.
"Don't I need a badge or something?"
Emma handed him one. She had grabbed it when she had been in the back. "This won't help you anything though. You can only enter the upper, private floors with me, Mrs Potts or one of the Avengers. Friday would immediately throw you out. Same goes if you go anywhere else."
He clipped the badge to his hoodie. "How did you even get the job with the Avengers? You're in highschool."
Some of the young scientists in the elevator grinned at that. Everyone that had met Emma and Peter had asked them the same question.
"Everyone knows that Mr Stark is always looking out for new and young talents."
The last scientist left the elevator before they slowly passed the upper labs. Somewhere on these floors Bruce Banner was working in his lab.
"So…you know the Avengers?" "I've met them."
Finally the door to the common room opened. No one was there except for Tony. He had changed into some decent clothes. "Ah. The boy who didn't want to leave until he saw me. I don't want to be rude but I got stuff to do...so what do you need?" He gestured for him to sit down on the couch across the table. Emma stood by the elevator. Reluctantly Sam sat down.
He eyed his classmate even as he was sitting in front of Tony. "I'm sorry but I'm here in a classified matter."
Emma rolled her eyes as Sam didn't look at her. Tony caught a glimpse of it and raised one of his eyebrows in question.
"He's one of my classmates." "I think Natasha had a problem with her newest Widow Bites. I think she's up."
Emma nodded with a grin before she stepped back into the elevator. She only went up one floor to the common kitchen. Just like she had expected the team of heroes was there. Some were training in the gym but the rest was sitting around and eating snacks. Emma jumped up and sat on the counter.
"I'm sorry for the secrecy. I'm Agent Sam Johnson. From Shield. I was involved in the fight yesterday. Don't worry I know you don't want to reveal anything about the new vigilante and I'm not here because Director Fury sent me. I happened to notice the difference between their first and the second fight. They seem to have trained."
"Of course they trained. Now what was so urgent it couldn't wait or go over Fury?"
Sam was visibly nervous. He may be an Agent but he was not done with his training. At least not completely, Tony was sure. He knew Nat and he had met plenty of other Agents. "Well, Spider-Man fought both times as well and he seemed worried as he saw their changed hair. I suppose the complete extent of their powers and their effect on themself are not yet known. I got a good look at the last part of the fight from the ground and thought I should share my observations with you. Since there's no way to contact them directly for Shield."
