Chapter 12

Josh POV

I sigh after calling Ray only for it to go to voicemail again. After calling her three times to walk off campus. 

I was honest with her, gave her space, and showed I cared. What else can I do for her to at least communicate with me?

I roll my eyes and get on the subway. I'm tired of waiting without any updates so I'll go get one myself. 

She can't keep running forever....can she?

I sigh in frustration before running my hand through my hair.

Maybe I shouldn't have given her the promise ring yet?

After thinking about Ray the whole way to her apartment, I'm ready to have some communication. She's not running from me this time.

Walking down the hallway to her door I'm about to knock when I notice it's unlocked. There's a slight opening with the door. 

My mind immediately goes into apprehension.

I slowly open the door and look around. I notice Ray's phone on the floor as well as a bottle of Ibuprofen almost hidden behind the counter.

My eyes stop when I see the sink with water all around splashed on the counter. I notice some of the water is pink and that there are some red spots on the counter. on puddle is leaking of the counter.

Blood 

As I get closer to the kitchen I see some that was blocked off from my vision when I first came in by the island. Another step and it seems to be a body. 

Ray

I immediately run to her and crouch in front of her.

I scream "RAY"

I see blood on her shirt and pants. I shake her harshly and say "RAY. Ray wake up." I look down at her form again before placing the back of my palm on her face. 

Noticing she's still warm I whisper in her ear "Ray"

Her eyes slowly flutter open and I smile while releasing a breath of relief. "Are you okay?"

I pull her up gently while saying "Do you remember what happened? Who did this to you?" I look over her body for any sign of wounds. It's then I notice her wrists are where all the blood is coming from. I look up at her with confusion.

Her eyes water before she pulls away and her body away from me and runs to her room. 

I look around the scene again and notice the bloody knife in the sink.

She- 

The sound of a door slamming pulls me out of my frozen state.

I turn off the faucet before I go into her room to find her not there. I see the light on in the bathroom but the door is locked as I turn the knob. 

I call out "Ray?"

She doesn't respond to me but I know she's in the bathroom..

I call out"Rayne."

In a broken voice I hear her stutter "L-leave me alone."

"Rayne."

I strain my ears and can hear her crying.

"Ray just-"

Struggling she yells "LEAVE..................please"

In a calm voice I say "I'm not leaving. Rayne I'm not mad okay. I just want to check you're okay."
