4 | Man of Many Talents

Baekhyun laid on his bed with his hands behind his head, staring at the white ceiling of his bedroom. His mind was filled with jumbled thoughts and in the middle of that chaos was Cho Sarang. The corners of his lips twitched upwards.

Last night

"Let me take you on a date." He said, pushing aside all his flimsy doubts.

Sarang looked at him in surprise, silent as she seemed to let the words sink in. "A.. date?" She repeated, seeming unsure of her own ears.

Baekhyun nodded, "I know we haven't known each other that long, but when I release the album, I'll be busy promoting." He started, trying to quiet down the thundering of his own heart. He knew it was odd to ask this so soon, but since that day in the rain, he felt like he'd known her forever. "I just had to try. And I don't really know when else I'll get the chance."

Baekhyun was rarely one to hold back his feelings or wait in the sidelines. He wore his heart on his sleeve and he wasn't afraid to take hold of his opportunities. How Sarang felt about that, he wasn't sure. She was still silent as she blinked at him.

"Oh," Her voice had quieted down and her gaze seemed slightly unfocused, a hint of pinkish tint creeping up her cheeks. "Um.."

"Sarang, I can take a rejection. It's fine if you don't want to." Baekhyun assured, completely clueless as he tried to read her expression.

"No, no it's not that." She cut in quickly, causing Baekhyun's hopes to shoot through the roof. "That was just unexpected. But I mean.." she looked like she was raking her brain really hard to sort out her thoughts and he could only hope it was a good sign.

Then a bubble of laughter slipped pass her lips, just like that night he let her flick his forehead silly.

"Sure, you can take me on a date."

Baekhyun came into work today with an unusually energetic bounce in his steps, more than ready to continue recording the song 'Candy'. What better mood to sing a bright happy tune about romance than the excitement of taking a girl out on a first date?

He had his fair share of experience in the love department, though clearly none of them lasted. They weren't all rainbows and butterflies, but Baekhyun wasn't one to lose his faith in love. Sure, it was far too soon to even imagine the word love with Sarang, but it was still a nice feeling to like someone and have her like him back. Well, at least enough to accept a date.

Baekhyun sang into the microphone, getting immersed in the groove of music that flowed from his studio headphones.

Today, it only took them two and a half hours to finish the parts that were in their recording agenda. Yeon Jung nodded her head in satisfaction at the end of that session, looking over the notes she had taken and checking off all the corrections. "Wow, great job today. We're ahead of schedule now."
