"what." you say to him, he lifts up an eyebrow. "不要自欺欺人，我在看你身边的人。" you cross your arms. "english, please." you see him chuckle while rolling his tongue inside his mouth, "don't flatter yourself, i'm looking at the person that's beside you." he points to his friend who sat beside you.
you look at the person who sat beside you who shot you a grin. you awkwardly smile, facing towards the teacher.
great, its my first day here. and i'm already embarrassing myself.
you shake your head side to side slowly, purposely covering the left side of your face to block him out of your sight. the first lesson went smoothly, managing to learn a few basic words in chinese.

you were finishing up the notes as the students were already leaving the classroom for lunch. from the corner of your eye, you see that cheng and his friend were goofing around behind your back, one of them bumps into you, causing you to scribble a large line that went across your notes.
"hey! what's your problem!" you stand in front of the two of them as they chuckled at your reaction. "oh, sorry~" cheng sarcastically says. "oh, f*ck you." you mumble, leaving the classroom even though you didn't finish your notes, you couldn't bare to be in that classroom anymore.

you walk out the classroom, mumbling to yourself as you walk down the hallway. "y/n!" you hear someone yell your name from behind, "huh-" you say before seeing meiying wrap her arm around your arm. "i'm glad i managed to catch up to you" she chuckles. "so.." "so?" you repeat after her.
"how did your first day of classes go?" "horrible." you say, she frowns, "how come?" you both continue walking. "its all because of cheng, i already can't stand that idiot." you cover your face with your other hand as you sigh loudly.
she pats your head, "don't worry, y/n. we can avoid them by eating at the patios outside." you smile, "that'd be preferable."

"so, what's with you and him? you guys seem somewhat close" you ask meiying. she takes a bite of her ramen. "yes, our parents are close. however, me and him are the opposite" "ah.." you nod you head, now understanding. "he seems to have feelings for you" you then say.
her expression changes immediately. "he does.. but i'm not sure if his feelings are still towards me anymore. he's been quite distant and haven't been showing me the signs like before.. but anyways, i have to go practice. see you y/n" she gets up, taking her lunchbox and violin case as she heads back inside the building.
