Chapter 7:
Earlier that day...
The dense forest echoed with anticipation as Geto, ever the provocateur, prodded Midoriya about his impending confrontation with the menacing curse spirit.
"So, Midoriya, what's your plan?" Geto inquired, his tone carrying a hint of curiosity.
"I'm going to try out my new curse technique. I want to use it when I go and capture that curse spirit," Midoriya declared, a determined gleam in his eyes.
Geto, with a playful grin, warned, "That cursed spirit has been following you around for years, so it has grown strong... maybe too strong for you to handle, don't you think?"
Unfazed, Midoriya turned away, his back facing Geto. "I think I can handle myself," he retorted, sporting a feigned smile before disappearing into the shadows. Geto, left behind, waved goodbye with a jesting farewell.
BOOM The tranquility of the forest was shattered by a thunderous noise, and a dust cloud emerged from the middle of the woods. Above it, Midoriya ascended, his fist emanating a swirling black and blue aura. Behind him trailed a fearsome, rainbow-colored dragon-like creature with its jaws wide open.
Midoriya touched down on the ground, and the dragon swiftly closed in, attempting to tackle him. Evading the beast's charge, Midoriya delivered a powerful punch to the dragon's head. To his surprise, the dragon seemed unscathed and swiftly took to the air, preparing for another assault.
Undeterred, Midoriya drew "Playful Cloud" from his shirt, preparing to counter the impending attack. The dragon, forming a white ball of energy in its maw, launched it toward Midoriya. In response, Midoriya caught the energy ball with his left hand, the force pushing him back. Charging his shoes with curse energy for better footing, Midoriya readied for the next exchange.
As the dragon charged again, Midoriya leaped into the air, avoiding a head-on collision. He threw the energy ball skyward and, with a charged weapon, struck it toward the dragon. A dust cloud enveloped the area, and as it settled, Midoriya saw the dragon's scales only slightly chipped.
In disbelief, Midoriya pondered, "How could the scales be that hard to break? Maybe I should have taken care of it earlier when it was weaker."
The dragon, its tail swaying ominously, advanced once more, ramming Midoriya in the stomach. He was sent flying until he collided with a tree. Gazing up, Midoriya observed the dragon's chipped scales on its left side, seemingly impervious to his attacks.
Frustrated but not defeated, Midoriya formulated a new strategy. Deciding to trap the dragon, he sprinted into the woods, skillfully knocking down trees with minimal curse energy. Creating distance between them, he executed a hand sign and invoked, "Barrier Technique: Curtain."
A mysterious black and clear barrier descended, infuriating the dragon. It attempted to break through, but the barrier held, inflicting pain upon the creature. Midoriya, sighing, rested against a tree, closing his eyes to contemplate his next move.
His mind racing, Midoriya recalled a moment of inspiration. Frustrated by the seemingly impenetrable scales, he took out his frustration by punching a tree. When he examined his hand, he found tree sap on it. Observing a broken section of bark, he discerned an idea.
Excited by the discovery, he rested his hand on the tree, contemplating his next move. Motivated, Midoriya initiated a high-energy assault on the dragon's vulnerable side. Despite the strain, he pressed on, determined to weaken the seemingly invincible scales. The dragon retaliated, charging a white energy ball. Midoriya, creating distance, cast "Barrier Technique: Curtain" again, blocking the ensuing blast.
As night loomed, Midoriya intensified his efforts. Drawing the dragon close with immense curse energy, he landed successive blows, noticing the dragon's vulnerability. In a final, powerful attack, he sent the dragon sprawling to the ground, blood seeping from its side.
Midoriya approached the defeated dragon, acknowledging its resilience. "You put up a good fight, that's for sure. Now, I have to seal you and absorb you, but I promise I will put you to good use."
Extending his hand, Midoriya began sealing the dragon's energy, shaping it into a dark ball. Consuming the sealed dragon, he absorbed its power, determined to harness it for his own purposes. Surveying the aftermath, he acknowledged the inevitable consequences of the battle and decided to tackle the other cursed spirits that he will eventually encounter on his quest to achieve more strength.
Brushing off the dirt, Midoriya headed home, his mind already contemplating the challenges that awaited him in the battles to come.
