Chapter 6:
The calm ambiance of Midoriya's dining room was briefly interrupted by the vibrant glow of the television, heralding the introduction of a new pro hero, MT. Lady. As the spectacle unfolded on the screen, showcasing her powerful quirk in action, Midoriya found himself less than impressed. To him, it seemed like she was more focused on seeking attention than ensuring the safety of those in danger.
The sudden darkness that enveloped the room drew his attention to his mother, Inko, who held the remote control with a grave expression. Midoriya sensed that something important was about to be revealed, and he shifted his focus entirely to his mother.
"Izuku, I have something very important to tell you," Inko spoke, her voice carrying a weight that demanded attention.
"Yes, Mom, I'm listening," Midoriya replied, putting down his fork.
Inko began to unfold a significant decision — a decision that involved relocation after Midoriya completed his seventh-grade studies. The primary reason behind this move was his father's frequent travels and Midoriya's recent manifestation of a quirk. The prospect of moving brought forth mixed emotions, and Midoriya responded with a monotone acceptance.
"Well, that's fine. I never really had many friends during my years of staying here," he remarked, masking his true feelings.
Inko, however, wasn't convinced. "C'mon, Izuku, you have friends. For instance, you have Katsuki. I remember when you used to call him by that cute nickname, Kacchan, wasn't it?"
"Bakugo? We don't talk that much lately. But I'm fine with that," Midoriya reassured his mother, his eyes reflecting a hidden turmoil.
Inko, still curious about Midoriya's future plans, couldn't help but inquire about his choice of high school after completing eighth grade. His unexpected response, "N.U.A High School," left Inko utterly stunned. The National Ultimate Academy, situated in America, seemed like an audacious choice, particularly given the recent awakening of his quirk.
Inko's concerns spilled out like a torrent, and she questioned his decision fervently. Midoriya, with a sly smirk, tried to ease her worries. "Yeah, I'm sure. And don't worry, my energy manipulation is stronger than you think."
Despite Inko's reservations, Midoriya skillfully shifted the conversation back to the television, expressing his desire to learn more about the new pro heroes. Dinner continued, with Inko's questions lingering in the air like unspoken echoes.
Later that evening, a peculiar chill raced up Midoriya's spine, prompting him to take decisive action. He stealthily retreated to his room, where he retrieved his trusty "Playful Cloud." Concealing it beneath his shirt, he declared his intention to take a walk. As he stepped outside into the cool evening, he assured Inko that he would return before the darkness fully settled.
In the woods, Midoriya reached a familiar open area. With a newfound sense of determination, he squared his shoulders and, with a serious tone, addressed an unseen presence that had stealthily trailed him for years. "I know you're out there. Reveal yourself so we can get this over with. You've been following me ever since I entered that cave to retrieve the scrolls, haven't you... 'Rainbow Dragon'."
