Fallen

Kane's group sat in the cold, damp cave quietly, a thick tension filling the open space following Lincoln's death. Clove had never been too close to Lincoln, but his death weighed heavy on her heart nonetheless. She hadn't forgotten that he had literally saved her life after her and Eugene escaped the cave all that time ago. Beyond that, Clove was certain that Lincoln saved all their lives too many times to count, even when they hadn't realized.

It was hard for Clove to even look at Octavia because she knew she had never endured a loss like this. Octavia placed a lot of blame on Bellamy, and she left bruises and blood on his face to prove it. Clove sat on the ground beside the fire, right next to where Monty and Sinclair stood. While Harper, Miller, and Bryan stood guard outside, Octavia packed her things and scolded Bellamy on her way out.

The two siblings walked out of the cave and Clove looked up at Monty, who only frowned and shrugged at her. "We should add more to the fire," Monty said. Clove nodded and tossed a couple more broken up branches into the flames. "Jasper should be here any minute."

"Yeah... did you understand what he was saying?"

"Not really," Monty shook his head. "He was talking so fast and what he said just didn't make much sense."

Then the rest of the group entered the cave, Bellamy holding Raven's limp body. "Clear some space!" Clarke demanded.

Clove noticed Emilio walk in behind the rest of them. She tilted her head with her eyebrows furrowed because Jasper hadn't mentioned him. She got up and gave him a quick hug an asked if he was okay.

Sinclair pointed to an empty spot next to the fire. "What the hell happened to her?"

"I told you on the radio," Jasper spoke. "Raven is not Raven anymore. None of them are. Jaha's been chipping everyone."

"They got him, Clo," Emilio spoke quietly. "They chipped Pa. He did it to help get me out." Clove didn't say much since she still didn't feel like she had enough information, she only gave her brother a second hug.

"Jasper's right," Clarke interjected. "I've seen it with my own eyes."

"I don't need your help, alright!" Jasper exclaimed, taking a few steps in Clarke's direction.

"Just take it easy and explain," Bellamy said, putting his hand on Jasper's shoulder.
"Jaha is using the chips to control everyone. You swallow it and it changes you. You forget who you are, and then you see this thing, ALIE," He explained and turned to point at Raven. "Only, she's not really there. She made Raven slit her own wrists. She was trying to get it out of her head. I was trying to help her but-"

"Okay, so let's help her now," Sinclair said as neared Jasper. "Did she say how?"

"She was working on building something. She needed one of our old wristbands but Jaha destroyed all of them."

"Wait a second," Clarke reached into her pocket and pulled out a small object. The fire barely illuminated it, but Clove could make out what seemed to be an infinity sign. "Does it look like this?"
"Not exactly," Jasper informed her. Bellamy squinted at the object and approached Clarke to get a better view.

Clove took the brief pause in the discussion to turn towards Emilio. "Nobody else got out?"

"No," Her brother shook his head. "We barely made it out ourselves."

Clove nodded slowly and gazed into the fire, only to see that Raven had stood up and made a break for the exit. Everybody turned to catch her and she hit Jasper on her way out. "Don't let her get away!" Clarke yelled to the people on guard outside.

When they got outside, Raven was turning in circles and her head bobbed every which way. "It's just woods. I can't see anything!" Raven shouted. Miller, Harper, and Bellamy tried to restrain her. Raven kicked Harper away and Octavia took her placed as Jasper approached and sedated her. "Reaper stick. Last dose."

Clove stepped to this side and pulled Harper up. "You good?"

"Yeah, thanks."

"We have to go," Clarke announced.

"Why?" Bellamy inquired. "ALIE doesn't know where we are."

"Because I know where we can get a wristband."

---------------

Miller, Bryan, and Clove stood guard outside of the grounder trading post while everybody else dealt with the Raven issue inside. "How is this whole ALIE thing even possible?" Miller wondered aloud.

"Yeah, we've dealt with some crazy shit but... this is hard to wrap my head around," Clove admitted. Bryan nodded silently as his eyes continuously scanned the perimeter. "And my dad..."

"Yeah," Miller agreed solemnly. "Me too. But we're gonna get them back, CJ."

"Doubt it. When have things ever worked out for us?" Clove responded. She glanced over at her friend and noticed his fallen expression. "Sorry... You're probably right. I mean, Clarke and Bellamy are on the case now. They always get shit done."

The three of them fell silent and chose to focus on keeping the area safe. After a couple of minutes, the grounder, Niylah, came outside and walked past them. Harper followed her out. "Clo, I can take over."

"You sure?" Clove asked. Harper nodded and Clove shrugged, placing the strap of the gun over her shoulder before heading inside. "So, does Clove get to know what's going on?"

Clarke gestured for her to come over towards them. "You haven't missed much. Raven is tied down back there and Niylah is getting the wristband now. Oh, and Clove?"

"Hm?"

"Murphy is in Polis."

The eyes in the room fell on her, save for Sinclair's. Clove shifted her feet and darted her eyes across each of the people looking at her. She cleared her throat, "Okay? What's that got to do with me?"

"Really?" Monty questioned, his eyebrows raised at her.

"Alright, fine!" Clove threw her hands up in defeat. "Is he okay?"

"I don't know... I mean when we found each other he was pretty banged up but he was alright. It's just, the new commander, Ontari... she wants every last sky person dead," Clarke grimaced. "She is evil. She cut off the heads of the other nightblood children as they slept."

Clove shook her head and pulled her eyebrows together towards the center of her face. "Why are you even telling me this, Clarke? Just to assure me that he's dead?"

"Come on," Bellamy intervened. "We all know Murphy's a survivor." Clove stayed quiet and stood  on the outskirts of the group as they slowly changed the topic.

When Niylah brought in the wristband, Monty, Sinclair, and Emilio began explaining to them what they had to do to get ALIE out of Raven's head. Monty and Octavia left to go to the dropship, which left Sinclair and Emilio with little to do as they wait for they parts they needed to reverse the polarity on this wristband.

"You know," Emilio began quietly, leaning against the table Clove was standing next too. "Clarke wasn't trying to upset you."

"What was she trying to do then?" Clove inquired. "I was perfectly fine imagining him dead, because I know that realistically he would be doing anything to survive. But now I know that he's stuck in Polis with a crazy murderer who wants us all dead... I would have been better off knowing nothing at all."

"Clo," Emilio sighed. "If you were missing... I would want any information on where you might be or what might be happening to you. No matter how much it hurt. Clarke was only trying to help."

Clove stared at her brother for half a minute before rolling her eyes. "Yeah. I know."

"Guys! Guys!" Jasper shouted from the room Raven was being held in. Clarke waved the siblings off, letting them know that her and Bellamy had it handled.

"I'm gonna get some air. Stay here, Monty will probably be back soon with the magnet thing."

"Electromagnet," Emilio corrected her.

Clove shrugged as she began walking towards the door. "Whatever, Millie."

The girl inhaled a deep breath when she got outside and then slid her back down the side of the shack, ending up sitting in the dirt. Clove didn't really get it, why anybody would want painful information instead of being able to just leave it to their imaginations. But Bellamy was right, if anybody was going to survive, it would be John Murphy. Clove was confident that if they ever did see each other again, it wouldn't be the same. If he truly did care about her the way she thought he did then Murphy would have been so hurt by what Clove said when he left for the City of Light.

Her train of thought was interrupted by Jasper storming out of the building. He paced back and forth a few times before leaning against the pale wooden post. Clove stood up and came over to him quietly. She placed her hand on his back and Jasper whisked his body around. Upon seeing Clove, the anger fell from his face and what remained was only anguish. Tears fell from his eyes and Clove frowned. She pulled Jasper into her arms, allowing his tears to soak shirt as he fell apart. A couple minutes passed before he stepped back and took a large breath. Jasper wiped his face and said, "I'm good." Clove nodded and the two synchronously leaned their elbows on the post.

Bellamy and Niylah eventually came out, having a discussion a few feet away from them. The moment Niylah went back inside, Monty and Octavia pulled up in the rover. Monty was quick to hop out and rush inside, holding a stoic look the entire time. Octavia approached them next, her face announcing to them all that something had happened.

Jasper and Clove shared a concerned look and got a bit closer. "What happened?" Bellamy asked.

Octavia cast a solemn glance towards the door Monty had just walked through. "Monty's mom was there. She was chipped..."

The three that had remained at the trading post shared a look.

"Monty killed her."
