"Come on," Clove groaned, dragging Eugene by the arm further into the woods. "We have a truce with the grounders. Live a little, lord knows your uptight ass needs it."

"I thought we were friends. Are you ever going to stop insulting me?"

Clove stepped up onto a boulder then paused and turned around to look at Eugene. "Eunice, I insult you because I care," She spoke before jumping off the boulder dramatically.

"What are we even doing anyway, CJ?" Eugene demanded, glancing around cautiously.

"Exploring," She wiggled her eyebrows. "I don't know, I'm just tired of being cooped up in that camp. I'm almost wishing Bellamy had let me come with them to Tondc."

"Yeah, why didn't you? You have been helping them out a bit recently," Eugene noticed. He walked beside her know rather than following like he was before.

"You hold one person at gunpoint and suddenly you're a loose cannon!"

"Clove! What?" Eugene sputtered, his eyes wide.

"Raven held John at gunpoint first," She tilted her head in thought. "When you think about it, she's the loose cannon."

"She did lose the man she loved..."

"And that is why I didn't press charges," Clove returned. "How far up that tree do you think I could climb?"

Eugene chose to ignore her. "Anyway, who's John?"

"Murphy?"

"Oh," He paused then smirked. "Oh. John, huh?"

"Stop making that face at me, it's not cute, weirdo," Clove shoved Eugene, knowing what he was assuming. "Did you hear that?"

"Stop trying to change the subject, CJ."

"No, I swear I hear something," She bit her lip harshly. "It's probably just grounders, right? They won't kill us."

Eugene paused and surveyed his surroundings, pulling his sword out of the sheath. "Stay here."

"Eugene, no!" Clove whispered. "Don't leave me out here alone!"

"I will be right back, I promise."

"That's what people always say... right before they don't come back!" Clove's eyebrows were pulled together, creating a worry line between them. "We can just go back to camp."

"It's fine," Eugene shook his head, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I will be right back, just stay right here."

Clove tried to argue, but he was already gone. "God, you are so dumb," She muttered quietly. She waited a couple of minutes and he still had yet to return or even yell out for help. Clove slowly stepped in the direction Eugene had headed, "I cannot believe I'm doing this."
