Jeremiah pulls his car up to a small stone structure poking out between the trees. I get out of the car and he walks over and enters a password to open the door. He leads me through a labyrinth until we reach a door.

"Ash, this is my house, it's underground so I can hide away from the world, that's why I have Ecco working for me, she's my proxy." He says, wandering into the room and sitting on the sofa.

"I see that part of your house design is a labyrinth, you used to draw those all the time," I say, sitting down next to him. He's about to say something but I stop him. I look into his chestnut eyes, and I kiss him. He's surprised at first but he deepens the kiss, wrapping his arms around me and playing with my hair.

(insert random smut here) (... I am not going to write smut for this so think of your own) (or just leave it as a very innocent thing, your choice but some events may not make sense if you don't acknowledge that this... Stuff... Happened. Or all events will still make perfect sense, who knows, it's up to chance, I'll know by the time I finish this at least)

It's been a few months now. I and Jeremiah have been dating and there has been no sign of Jerome since he went to Arkham Asylum. I sit around in Jeremiah's underground House, waiting for him to finish work. I decide to turn on the TV to see what was currently on. As soon as the screen flickers to life, a picture of Jerome appeared on it, saying he and four others had been broken out of Arkham. I instinctively grabbed my phone to call Jeremiah. It rings for a few seconds.

"Hello, Ash? What's up? Why are you calling me while I'm doing work?" Jeremiah says through the phone.

"Have you seen the news?" I say quickly, almost slipping over my words.

"No, why? Is something important happening?" He asks in a worried tone.

"Jerome has escaped from Arkham..." I say.
The phone goes silent, I can tell that Jeremiah is shocked.

"Stay where you are, I'm coming back now, we can stay in my house until he's caught again." He says seriously.

"But, isn't there that charity event being hosted in a few days, we can't miss that," I whine into the phone.

"Well..." He pauses for a moment as if he was thinking deeply about it. "I guess it'll probably be pretty safe there, it's not like we're the only ones going." He says. "Ok, I'll be back there in a minute." And he hangs up. I listen to the rest of the news report as I wait, hoping that it could suggest what his plan was.
After a few days of staying indoors, there's no sign of Jerome, apart from the group, the 'maniax' causing a bit of trouble with a bus and dropping some people off of a building. It was the night of the charity event so I get into a blue suit (they would have worn a dress for formal reasons but they prefer suits, Ash doesn't like dresses much) while Jeremiah puts on a black suit. He would have worn some sort of disguise for his face but I convinced him not to as he would have looked more suspicious. I did, however, add temporary dye to his hair and give him some coloured contacts to make him look less like the killer that was currently loose in the city. All seemed perfectly fine at the event until it reached the magic show. The magician called Bruce Wayne up and put him in a box, where he then made it look like he sliced Bruce in half. Then he called up another volunteer, but this time he threw a knife into the man. Everyone screamed in shock and they probably would have tried to escape from the area if a bunch of armed men weren't guarding the place. The magician revealed himself as Jerome and after he spent a while being Jerome, a man named Theo Galavan tried to stand up to him. In a quick movement, Jerome ended up with his knife stabbed into his neck. I covered my mouth in shock, sure he was psychotic and strange, but he didn't deserve that, he was still like a brother to me for the whole time I was at the circus. Jeremiah wrapped his arms around me, clearly in shock as well. After all, he did just watch his brother's death. We both left after that and decided it was best to have a hot drink and read some books together. I curl up on the sofa next to Jeremiah, with a book in my hand, but instead of reading, I ended up falling asleep on him.

Jeremiah's pov:

They fell asleep quite quickly, but it had been quite an eventful day, after all the one person who kept them company at the circus when they were younger had just been murdered. Sure, he kind of deserved it but that doesn't make it hurt less for them. I carefully wrapped my arm around them and grabbed a blanket from nearby to put over them, it kind of reminded me of when they fell asleep on me when we were younger, that night that I... I shouldn't have left them, I should have stayed with them and not left them with my psychotic twin. Who knows what he did to them that they haven't told me about. I did notice a few times that they have quite a few scars on them that weren't there when we were younger but whenever I would ask about them they would say that it was nothing. Sometimes I wonder why they wanted to stay with him that night instead of coming with me, did they secretly like him? No, they couldn't have, they looked terrified of him that night he was arrested, it isn't possible, they can't have... Was the look a look of terror and fear? Did I just ignore what it was because of my feelings towards them and my resentment of my twin? But, they said thank you to me when I helped them to avoid him... Or was I just hearing things?
