-He's got a normal commuter car for his everyday driving
-But in his garage, he has a beautiful 1959 Ford Thunderbird convertible that he works on in his spare time. It's his project car and he's insanely proud of it.
-So when you agreed to go out with him on a Friday night after work, that's what he picks you up in. The weather is nice, so he's got the top down, too.
-He knows it's flashy and impressive, and he really, really wants to impress you.
-Plus it gives him a chance to brag a bit about his mechanic skills. As I said, he's trying to impress you.
-Please tell him how cool you think it is
-He also secretly hopes that you're at least a little bit into cars like he is
-But if you're not it's fine, just don't expect him to stop talking about it on your account
-He's not trying to direct the entire conversation, really, he's just so nervous around you and afraid of awkward silences
-Since it's an older car, it doesn't have seatbelts or airbags.
-Normally he can be a bit of a reckless driver, speeding and whatnot *cough* road rage *cough*
-But since he's driving around two of the most important things in the world to him, he drives so cautiously. Like 10mph under the speed limit.
-Everyone is honking, which pisses him off, but he tries to keep his cool in front of you
-It's dark outside, but if you look closely you can see that the tips of his ears have turned red
-If you put a hand on his forearm it'll calm him down a bit, but now his whole face is bright red
-Speaking of his arms, he'll definitely put an arm out in front of you if he has to slam on the brakes because the car in front of him stopped short
-I promise he's not trying to feel you up, he's just trying to protect you. He doesn't want you to hit your head on the dash or go through the windshield
-And once again, his face is BRIGHT RED as he apologizes profusely. He's so cute.
-(Once you're in a relationship together he really WILL stop short on purpose as an excuse to feel you up. He'll wink, too. Cheeky fucker).
-He takes you to his favorite diner, a family-run place that's been around forever
-They have the BEST burgers, and he insists you try one.
-Before the waiter comes back he'll ask you what you want so he can order for the both of you, he's a gentleman like that.
-Both of your meals come with fries, but he still lets you steal his.
-He'll try to feed you a couple, too. He thinks it makes you look cute.
-He gets ketchup on his cheek, and you tease him by swiping it off with and then licking your thumb.
-After you finish dinner he orders a single milkshake for the both of you complete with two straws
-He's so cheesy, I love it
-After dinner, before he takes you home, he tells you he has a surprise for you.
-You try to get him to spill the beans, but he won't budge. He's so stubborn 🙄
-Eventually, he pulls up at a drive-in theater. Tonight they're showing Grease.
-He surprises you by knowing all of the words to the songs, and you sing along together
-It's a warm summer night, and you can feel a slight breeze through your hair. (He can't feel a damn thing through his hair with all of the gel he put in it).
-He thinks you look so pretty like that, your hair flowing gently in the breeze, and he can't help but reach out and brush a small strand off of your face.
-He just about dies when you rest your head on his shoulder, and he prays you can't hear the way his heart is pounding in his chest.
-When the movie ends, you stay like that a little while longer, stargazing and talking about anything you can think of, just to make the night last a little longer.
-When he takes you home, he walks you to your door
-He wants to ask you out for a second date and he's so nervous
-Keeps trying time run his fingers through his hair to ease his nerves, but it's so stiff with gel he doesn't get far
-"So, can I take you out again sometime? Maybe next weekend?"
-When you smile and tell him you'd like that, it's a huge weight off his shoulders
-And when you cup his face with one hand and kiss his other cheek, he feels like he's going to melt
-"Have a good night, Pock. Drive safe."
-And for you (and his car), he does.
