There was a silence as Adrien's whole expression turned into pure shock. His arms dropped to each side of his body. He always knew he would have to marry, but arranged? His father were arranging him to get married for some thing?!

Adrien bit down on his bottom lip before throwing his head back in a fit of laughter. He laughed until he realized his father was dead serious. Of course he was, when even were the last time he joked around?

"Father, you have no right to do this." Adrien's chest heaved. He felt his body become warm, his blood began to boil with anger. First, his father barely gives him the time of day, then he goes off and throws him into an marriage with a complete stranger.

His father stayed silent, his expression not changing one bit as if he felt no guilt of any sort.

"I can't- I won't do it." Adrien shook his head, believe it or not. This was the first time he dared to refuse his fathers intentions and orders.

Gabriel's expression hardened slightly as he stood up from the chair and made his way over to Adrien. "I have all the rights, you are my son. And you will do this." Gabriel's glare pierced through his soul as if his icy blue eyes would freeze him to death.

Adrien turned away from his fathers glare, looking down at the ground beneath them. "What would mother think of this?" Adrien knew he were walking on thin ice as he spoke of her but he didn't care, he would say anything at all to try and sense with his father at this point.

Adrien could see Gabriel's fist clench at his sides. "I am doing this for your mother." He spat bitterly his tone rising slightly.

"You will go along with this Marriage, boy, and you will not question me any further!" Gabriel's voice rung through the room.

Adrien shook his head, his father must have been angry but at this point he didn't care because he became enraged, he were so furious at this moment that he didn't think he could've controlled what came out of his mouth next.

"Do you seriously think mother would have fallen for the man you are today? Do you think she would approve of you treating your only son this way! I wish she took me with her when she left this destructive hell of a home!" Adrien said before even knowing what he had just said.

There was a suffocating silence before the back of Gabriel's hand made contact with Adrien's cheek.

Adrien widened his eyes with a grunt from the impact but wouldn't show any weakness. He reached up to to cup his burning cheek, keeping his eyes on the ground.

"Don't you ever use that tone with me, Adrien." Gabriel made his way back to his desk. "You are dismissed, Natalie will discuss this further with you." He sat down, his attention leaving Adrien's as he placed his glasses back to his face and picked up some papers.

Adrien's jaw clenched as he reached for the door handles and made his way out of the office, letting them slam back shut. He looked up through his blond locks as the maids and butlers quickly looked away and went back to work. They must have heard it all, Adrien let out a sigh before rushing to his room.

The blond made it to his room and made sure to slam the door behind him. He tugged at his golden locks as he paced in the open area.

This couldn't be happening, it just couldn't. He haven't even met this women who would soon be his legal fiancé. What if she were just snobby, what would his father benefit from doing this? Why was it so important, Adrien had plenty of time to get married. He was only a sophomore in college, there was plenty of time to find someone.

But the thing was, Adrien never wanted to have a girlfriend. He didn't think he could love someone with all the trauma he suffered living like this. The trauma of loosing his mother, the only person who showed him love. But then again, this engagement wouldn't be about love. It wouldn't even be about him, it would be about his father and what he wanted. And he couldn't do a thing about it.

Marinette stood from the sofa, stretching her legs and back. She had accidentally fell asleep after giving up on trying to do the homework. With a yawn, she made her way to the window. The sun began to set, orange and gold stretched far and wide, the colour of fire hearths and tangerines, with the promise of dawn.
