The next morning, I was up extra early. Alya had wanted to check out that cafe today and insisted that we grab a drink then head down to the university.
I leaned down to the rack underneath the sink and pulled out a wash cloth and ran it through the running water of the sink faucet. Getting it soaked with the warm water before squeezing and wiping my face. I had never been a morning person and still aren't one but feeling the hot steam of the water hit my face in the morning really does wake me up. My mother introduced this to me back when I was in high school and would stay in bed even when my home schooling teacher would arrive. And it really does work even now.
I threw on my uniform, when we would leave the cafe we would be heading straight to university. I didn't forget to wear a more bigger hat and a pair of glasses before leaving the door of this home. There was no way that I would be foolish enough to walk out there without some type of disguise. No way! I hadn't watched the news or any gossip channel since the engagement party and so I didn't know what were being said, I didn't know anything. What if people thought it was fake, what if they were suspicious? Oh, I wouldn't blame them if they did.
I swung open the bathroom door and stepped out into the hallway. I stopped when I heard the distant voice of a male who happens to be Adrien Agreste down the stairs. He sounded as if he were on the telephone by the way I hadn't heard any other voice. I took a few strides down the hallway until I came to the end where I could take a peak down.
I couldn't see his face since his back was turned to me. He held the machine in his hand as his other hand brought the telephone to his ear. He stood in a white silk robe, his blond hair messy and poking out from all directions. Somehow he managed to make messy hair look good, I envied that.
"I understand, thank you Natalie." He spoke into the telephone in a low voice. He placed the telephone back on the machine before twirling around. His eyes immediately met mine. My eyes widen, geez! I took in a breath before fully stepping out in the open.
His brow raised as he took in my appearance, his eyes scanned me from head to toe before meeting my eyes again. "Good morning." His distant voice spoke out to me.
I slowly started down the stairs, "Morning." I awkwardly rose my hand up to offer him a wave. He didn't return one, his gaze just kept on me. He probably thought that I was eavesdropping on his conversation. Which I most definitely wasn't and would never do!
"Where are you headed, if I might ask?" He questioned as I stepped to the final floor, making my way before him.
No, actually you might not ask. Seeming as it is none of your business. You little-
"Only because my father has an event for today in which we will have to attend for PDA." He deadpanned.
PDA? PDA! Are you joking me right now? He had to be. There was no way he couldn't be joking! I absolutely will not tolerate that.
"W- what event?" I stuttered out before I could hold it back.
"It is supposed to be a charity event, my father does not usually attend them and so I have to. Since you are- viewed as my fiancé, you will be attending also." He explained, sticking his hands in the pockets of his robe.
"But, couldn't I just stay here? I mean, surely not everyone knows about me yet. Right? the engagement was only recent." Words spilled out of my mouth, I didn't want to go. No, I really didn't! The engagement event was already too much for me with all the judgmental looks and whispers.
Adrien didn't have to speak for me to know the answer. He just looked at me with his emerald eyes that seemed much more dull than when we had first encountered.
