"Oh what a lovely surprise." The familiar women spoke out. Her eyes glittering with something I couldn't quite read.

Adrien stared up at the women in disbelief. His lips pulled in a straight line, his eyes hard and his brows furrowed. I could see his fingers gripping the table cloth tightly causing his knuckles to turn white. This had to be the first time I've ever seemed the prince look so bothered.

"Delphine," Adrien spoke, his voice low and firm. I could very well feel the irritation waving off of him. I wonder why. "What are you doing here, pray tell?" I could see his jaw clenching.

Only, the women offered him a pleasant smile and turned to me. Completely disregarding his question. "Nice to meet you again, Mademoiselle Dupain-Cheng, how have you been?" She began.

I offered her a smile back, standing up from my seat to be at her level. "I'm doing quite well," I take the moment to actually ask myself that question. I've mostly settled into the life of being folly engaged to the prince. It had its qualities and dare I get too accustomed to the lifestyle. "And what a pleasure it is to meet you too, how have you b-"

I was suddenly cut off as Adrien's voice cut in between our greetings. We both turned toward him as he also stood, now towering over us both. Well, at least Delphine was at his shoulders, especially with those heels, they gave her life. I was tempted on asking her where she'd gotten them.

"When had a meeting occurred between the both of you?" He purses his lips out. If I weren't mistake, there was a scowl sitting on his mouth.

I was about to speak but Delphine had beat me to it as she turned to him.

"Oh, right, we met at that charity event not to long ago." She spoke in an almost teasing manner but I was probably mistaken. "I'd mentioned her how close we were and that she could always find me if she needed to know anything about you." I now couldn't see her expression as her back was now facing me.

Adrien stared at her blankly, not giving away any expression on his face. I didn't know if my senses were correct but I had a feeling that there had been a tense past between the two.

"Well, now that you've introduced your presence. You should be on your way." Adrien said smoothly, coldly, leaving no room but but's. It was a side of him I'd never seen before.

Delphine cleared her throat and turned so that both Adrien and I could see her face. "Well, if you insist. But I was just about to eat alone, and I stumbled upon the both of you..." she trailed off her tone expecting.

I furrowed my brows and looked at Adrien. She was supposed to be his childhood friend. And now that she's here, why shouldn't we invite her to eat with us. Not to mention it would take some of the tension away from the table. And plus, no one deserves to eat alone in a restaurant full of families and laughter.

"Oh, why not join us?" I offered. While she turned to me with a bright smile, Adrien on the other hand didn't seem thrilled, not in the least bit.

"Marinette," Adrien began. "I don't believe she wants to be bothered with us-" he was cut off by Delphine.

"Oh goodness gracious, thank you for offering your table to me. I'd gladly accompany the both of you." She then snapped her finger, out of literally nowhere, one of the doormen in white and black scurried into the secluded space and placed a chair at the table, right in the middle of Adrien and I.

Delphine sat down just as our server strode into the area and placed both mine and Adrien's food down.

"We're expecting more guests?" The waiter questions, his brows furrowed.
....
"Yes! Oh and one time in piano lessons Adrien played the wrong note in the middle of a performance for his father. You should've seen the king's face! And Adrien's face once the king scolded him and sent him to be taken to the palace straight away." Delphine chuckled lightly.
