(no proof read. fucked up update schedule)
it had been a bit since y/n had read the task for the mission. the task in hand wasn't exactly easy though.. in a summary though, her goal was to get into contact with the royal family of mora and figure out its secrets and the people who lived in the city. the only way she can do that was by befriending people on her way, such as the prince. that's what it had explained at least.
though, it racked her brain for the short amount of time she took it in. would she really be able to get in contact with the royal family? even with these earrings that karl gave her, would this be enough proof? ranboo did say that getting in the city itself was hard nowadays..
the brunette sighed, she shouldn't be so frustrated in the first day. it wasn't like she had to do anything yet. there was no rush to this anyways. karl did say she could take her time anyways. maybe y/n could talk to ranboo more, interact and get to know him. it'd be great to try and fit in when she does have to talk to many different people.
she sighed and got up slowly, closing the files on the coffee table. there was no way ranboo can be that nosy. y/n took no more thought and walked down the hall where ranboo had walked down. the sounds of the floor boards creaking were heard and y/n jarred the door open slowly.
as she opened it, she spotted ranboo fixing up a rather comfortable looking bed. there was a candle set over to the left where a night table stood, a book shelf next to the night table. other than anything else, it looked nice.
she walked in and sat down on one of the chairs inside the room, the desk next to her having a book wide open on it. "this is a nice place you have" y/n informed ranboo abruptly making him whip his head around, his tail going stiff. "oh, sorry to scare you" she chuckled sheepishly. he shook his head and finished up, sitting down to the chair across y/n.
"that's fine. i'm just not used to being accompanied i guess.." he mumbled as he sighed and rested his head down on the table. "not used to talking to anyone either, im either outside and adventuring due to how boring it is" ranboo informed. y/n cocked an eyebrow.
"though it's a good thing, right? it's better than staying inside and tired" the brunette responded. ranboo shrugged. "depends how you act, to be honest. i'm more for staying inside and reading. though, i finished all the books in my house" the two toned explained tiredly.
"how come you can't get more?" y/n asks curiously. ranboo sighs. "these" he simply pointed to his horns. "they make it harder to talk to the librarians in the city. hard to get in the city as well" he explains. y/n felt a sudden guilt after asking.
"sorry for asking.." the brunette muttered. "i think i packed some books with me though, i can lend them to you" y/n offers politely. ranboo smiled fondly and shook his head.
"that's fine. i think i should get out more anyways. before i stumbled upon you i was actually picking flowers.." he informs. "taking in the scenery as well" he shrugs. y/n hummed in thought. what if it were possible she could take him into the city? what were the chances he wouldn't be caught?
though, she only felt bad that she can go everywhere when ranboo can go to limited places. "maybe brighten his day a bit y/n jeez.." she thought to herself. "maybe... i can try and take you out into the city today? it's pretty early now isn't it?" the brunette asks ranboo.
he hums unsure, "you don't have to y/n. it could be a day to relax. i think we both need it.." the two toned huffed. "even though i would like a book to read" ranboo mumbled. y/n rolled her eyes. "for gods sake just take my book" she said as she got up, walking out of the room.
"huh, where are you going, i said no!" ranboo was heard protesting from the guest bedroom. though, the brunette didn't listen. she heard the sound of the chair getting pushed against the wood, his footsteps following behind her. she hastily pulled out three books from her bag and placed them above the files on the coffee table.
