January 2017

Tine's POV

"This is going to my year, and I am going to make 2017 my b*tch." I yelled out loud as soon as I opened the door to my new apartment, hoping it would push down all the nervousness I had in my stomach. But I wasn't sure it was working. I had risked a lot getting this apartment on my own. This was my only saving grace now and I couldn't even imagine what would happen if things went side ways.

"Stop yelling Tine, we could hear you from the elevator," said Ohm as he carried the rest of my boxes to the apartment. "I cant believe you forced Fong and I to help move. And seriously Tine, who the hell moves on the first day of January? I am still hungover from the New Year's Eve Party." He said frustratingly as he put the boxes on the floor.

"ME! The person who wants to make 2017 his b*tch"

"Yeah we already heard that from the elevator." Ohm scuffed and scanned the new apartment.

"Wait a second. Tine, how the hell are you able to rent this apartment? The view, the floor to ceiling windows, and its even all furnished! God, I thought you couldn't get money from your family anymore? Tell me honestly, did you finally sell your body for money, Tine?"

"Shut up Ohm! I actually got this place at 80% discounted rent. The only condition was that I had to sign a year long lease. So I did."

"That's what I am asking you Tine, did you sell your body for a year to the house owner to lower down your rent? Because there is no way you can afford this huge apartment in a posh building like this, so close to the college. No offense Tine, you used to be rich and stuff, but now you are broke AF since your family cut you off."

I punched him on his arm. "I didn't sleep with anyone idiot. They really gave this place to me at a discount. Apparently, this place is haunted and all the previous tenants saw a ghost roaming around, which is how I was able to rent this amazing house. No one wanted to live here, the owner gave me a huge discount and here we are. I am lucky. aren't I?" I smiled.

Ohm jumped away and ran towards the door. "What the hell Tine! That should have been the first thing you mentioned when you asked me to help you out with moving."

"Oh come on! Its not that big of a deal. Stop being overdramatic Ohm"

"Tine.." It was Fong who finally spoke up. "Why are you smiling like this is the best decisionyou have ever made in your life. I know you love spooky, ghost stories. But watching ghosts on a TV screen is one thing, you can't actually live with a ghost. What if the ghost tries to harm you?"

"Fong, why the hell are you even reasoning with Tine right now? Ghosts don't exist okay. Stop talking stupid stuff." Ohm interrupted.

"If ghosts don't exist Ohm, then why are you standing at the door shaking, instead of helping me move my stuff?

And Fong, I did my research on this ghost before I signed the lease and gave the deposit money.

People have seen a manly figure roaming around the house, but the ghost has never interacted with them, acknowledged them, or hurt them in any way. Its a harmless ghost and a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to live with a damn ghost.

You guys already know I really needed to move. I cant even afford to live at the college dorms right now.

I have been through a year of hell already, and I have decided — 2017 is going to be my year.  And part of being independent means living with a harmless ghost for a short while than so be it. Anyways, I don't even think there is any ghost here. I haven't seen anything..."
