Once upon a time, there was a kingdom named Bellisima. It's small in area, but rich with diamonds and gold, making it the richest in the continent. The Kingdom was ruled by a just and clever King, King Stefan.
His sickly wife, Queen Marie-Therese, gave him only one daughter, Princess Alice. The princess had reached the age of 25 years old. It was time to marry for a respectable heiress.
How was Princess Alice? She's very pretty and lovely, but above all, she's smart and confident. She knew her kingdom was a gem, and she would never simper nor flatter any men under the sun.
She understood very well, she's a precious asset to any man she'd be willing to marry.
As an heiress to the throne, Alice had the best tutors in the continent. No boundaries were ever set to limit her, for the future queen of Bellisima should be as smart as possible.
Proposals from kingdoms all over the world came for her ever since she was 15. King Stefan refused everyone because she was still too young. This reason was valid until Alice was 20 years old.
Then the reason used to refuse suitors was because she needed to pursue a higher education. She studied and got her master degree already, the first woman in the kingdom to study that far.
That was a year ago.
Then she made another excuse of travelling her whole kingdom for a year.
When her birthday arrived and she turned 25, she and her father ran out of excuses. They were both afraid that the man who married her would tie her down, restrict her, then overrule her.
However, Queen Marie-Therese reminded that Alice could search for a husband slowly. In the end, she had to have an heir. But she would never find one if she never started looking.
So finally, on her 25th birthday ball, she announced that she would slowly find a husband. She would get to know as many highly-qualified suitors as possible and said that she had decided the age 30 as her own deadline to get married.
So, starting from that day, all her weekends would be filled with getting to know a prince, a king, a lord, a duke or an incredibly rich merchant.
She kept asking her palace officers, whether they had filter the suitors with a high standard or not. But even with her very high standard, the palace still found many suitors to fill all her weekends for a year.
