How do you break your parents' hearts? Sometimes, by telling the truth.
Lee Min Ho's mother, Lee Ji Ah, was the second wife of the Uahan's Lee Jin Sook. His first wife passed away already, who was the mother of Lee Byung Hun, the first son of the family, and the CEO of Uahan.
Lee Ji Ah married Lee Jin Sook years after his first wife passed away, out of love. She had educated Min Ho very early on, that he was not going to be Uahan's first heir nor the CEO. And he must be satisfied and happy with the situation.
He grew up as loving and understanding child, who loved his family. He even loved his stepbrother, although Byung Hun never made a real effort to be closer to him.
Lee Jin Sook secretly loved his second son more than his first. Min Ho was smart and kind. He was everything Jin Sook hoped Byung Hun was. However, everyone never spoke about this, although the entire family knew about it.
Byung Hun was still the one planned to inherit Uahan and lead it. But it's Min Ho that Lee Kyung Hae, the harabeoji, took to culinary tours all over Seoul. He loved to eat affordable food, despite all the money that he had. Min Ho was the one Jin Sook took to watch sports match and to the galleries. First and foremost, it's because Byung Hyun always stated that he had no time. The second reason was because Min Ho understood.
If we erase the mansion and it's luxurious contents and the value of this family, it was very similar to a common family. Min Ho was born to the luxury. The grandeur was a daily experience. When you see and have it daily, it's not special anymore. However, he genuinely loved his family. His grandfather and late grandmother, his parents and his problematic Hyung.
If he had to choose between his family's honor or his Hyung, he would choose the first.
To be able to be the new CEO of Uahan and prevent the family from ruin if Byung Hun's crimes was revealed, Min Ho had to inform the crime to his family. And that, he knew, would be heartbreakingly hard.
He couldn't sleep the previous night, turning left and right then staring at his ceiling.
At 7 AM he walked to his grandfather's bedroom.
Lee Kyung Hae always woke up at 5 AM. When Min Ho entered, he had finished his morning walk with his dog and showered, getting ready for the family breakfast.
"Good morning, Harabeoji. May I talk to you?"
Kyung Hae looked at his grandson and concluded, "It's gotta be bad news, judging from your expression."
