*********************** When Himari banged the gates, Eun Gyo's servants were all surprised. The house had sturdy iron gates, and Jung Rok could just peek who it was from a small square window in the middle. He knew who Himari was. She was the older madam's assistant, had been with her all her life.
"What do you want?" he asked fiercely.
Jung Rok saw the old woman was wounded.
"What happened to your face?"
"The old madam hit me."
"What??? Why???"
"Have some decency and let me in."
"I can't. This is the younger madam's house. Why are you here?"
"I need a roof above my head."
"The older madam fired you???"
"No, I left."
Jung Rok snorted in obvious disbelief. "I'll go tell the madam."
Eun Gyo was at the kitchen, cooking japchae, which was Hansu's request for the day.
"Old Himari is at the front gate, Ma'am, looking for a job."
"What??? The first madam's servant???" Yoon Seo exclaimed loudly. Before working for Eun Gyo, Yoon Seo and Hye Young were servants at the hotel Hansu used to live at. Mieko often went to the hotel to meet her friends, and Himari was always with her, looking scary and strict like the gatekeeper of hell.
"What does she want? Send her off! Our madam is pregnant, she can't handle any scoldings!"
Eun Gyo just listened to them, confused.
"There's the servant of the first madam at the gate?"
"Ne, Ma'am. She's wounded."
"What do you mean wounded???" Yoon Seo asked, horrified.
"Seems the first madam beat her."
"That's impossible! She worked for the first madam since she was a baby! She's practically like her mother!"
"Well, she said she left the first madam."
"Just tell her to enter. I'll meet her."
"What? No, Ma'am! What if she wants to throw salt or water at you?" Hye Young asked, afraid for Eun Gyo.
"Then I'll just throw her out of the house," Eun Gyo replied.
Soon, Himari stood at the front sitting room.
Eun Gyo saw a horribly wounded woman. A side of her head was bleeding badly, and big bruises were beginning to form. She was in her mid fifties, but was obviously healthy still, despite her wounds.
