1. Lonar Lake, Maharashtra, India.
The Lonar Lake aka Lonar Crater situated in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, India, has evoked awe amongst biologists, geologists, researchers etc. It is believed that the 1.2 km wide lake was formed when a meteor hit this part of the Earth some ages ago. This lake finds a mention even in ancient Puranic literature, and the Ain-e-Akbari. The water of the lake is saline, and there is a magnetic idol of Hindu Lord Hanuman enshrined in a nearby temple.
2. Bailey Bridge, Ladakh.
Located in the gorgeous Ladakh valley among Dras and Suru Rivers, Bailey Bridge has gained fame as the highest bridge in the world. It was constructed by the Indian Army in 1982 to make movement easy during wartime. It is 93 ft long and 18,379 ft high above the sea level. A lake is located to the right of the bridge, and a hydroelectric dam to its left. Driving over the bridge is a noisy experience but a breeze.
3. Iguazu Falls (Border of Argentina-Brazil)
One of the modern natural wonders of the world. Located on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Parana. This chain of mini waterfalls is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring attractions. A visit is an awe-inspiring visceral experience, and the power and noise of the cascades; A chain of hundreds of waterfalls nearly 3 km in extension – is something you won’t forget. The falls lie split between Brazil and Argentina in a large expanse of national park, much of it rain-forest teeming with unique flora and fauna.
4. Ellora Caves, Maharashtra, India
Ellora caves are a group of temples that were built between the 5th and the 10th centuries AD. These temples are elaborately decorated with paintings and intricate rock carvings. The hills that have served as the venue of Ellora caves form a part of the Sahyadri ranges of the Deccan. These ranges date back to Cretaceous era of the Geological time scale (about 65 million years ago).
The Great Kailasa (Cave 16) at Ellora boasts of being the largest single monolithic excavation in the world.
Ellora caves have been hewn out of the volcanic basaltic formation of Maharashtra, known as ‘Deccan Trap’. Largest rock monastic temple complex in the world and a World Heritage Site.5. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia.
One of the top weirdest places across the world is located in Potosí and Oruro departments, this is the world’s largest salt pan and one of the strange places in the world. And when a thin film of water gathers on the surface it is also the world’s largest natural mirror. The best sight of this space can be observed from the central Incahuasi Island. Salar De Uyuni is the remains of a prehistoric lake that dried off and left behind void space of bright-white salt, rock formations, and cacti-islands. This place harbors large flocks of beautiful pink flamingos that can be seen grazing in the water.
