As soon as I got home I ran upstairs to finish everything I needed for tonight, then took an hour long nap before dinner.

"So how was school Emma?" Aunt Merida asked from across the table.

"Fine. We did some computer work which was ok, but it was nothing I didn't already know."

"That's nice dear." she mumbled turning her attention back to her plate.

I could tell neither of them was interested in listening to me any further, "May I be excused?"

"Yes yes of course."

I got up and took my plate into the kitchen to clean it off, before running back upstairs. I pulled on the black and white unitard I bought and put my pyjamas on over top of it. I started working on some gadgets when my door swung open.

"Emma- What on earth are you doing?" aunt Merida asked focusing on my currant gadget.

"Just some stuff for science. We're learning about circuits."

"Alright then... Your father called he won't be back for three weeks now so you'll be here."

"Figures." I muttered turning back to my work.

Aunt Merida hesitated at the door for a minute "Well goodnight Emma."

"Night."

______

"Shit!" I cursed running down the street to the bridge. I was five minuets late. I was wearing track pants and a baggy hoodie so I didn't attracted attention but there still is that one creepy guy you have to loose in the crowd.

I just stepped onto the bridge when I was swept off my feet into the air.

"Your late."

"Sorry major traffic on 46th." I shouted over the rushing wind.

I saw him roll his eyes and he tilted us so we landed on top of one of the support beams. He let go of me and Looked me over.

"That's what you wore?"

"What don't like it?" I asked spinning in a circle.

"No just expected you to wear some dorky costume."

"Says the one in padded spandex, with a bird on it."

He glared at me and I did the same back. He turned his back to me and walked to the edge of the support.

"Let's get started with something simple. Balance."

"Yeah cause that's so easy." I scoffed taking off my hoodie.

He turned his head to look at me and his jaw opened slightly like he was going to say something.

"What?" I asked slipping my pants off so I was standing in the unitard, "Too dorky?"

He shook his head and gestured for me to come over to him. I stood beside him and he suddenly pushed me off the edge.

I screamed and grabbed hold of the ledge with my right hand before I plummeted down. he grabbed my left hand and hoisted me back up beside him.

"What the fuck was that!?" I screamed.

"You need to work on your reaction time and balance. You should be able to keep yourself from falling so easily."

"I could have died!!!"

"But you didn't, which means you have some potential."

I glared at him but he ignored it and pulled me in front of him.

"Your not going to push me again are you?" I asked uneasily.

He chuckled and nudged me toward the edge a little more, "No. Now I'm going to let go of you and I want you to try and keep your balance on the edge."

I nodded and he released my waist so I was standing right on the edge. Everything was going fine and I even lifted one leg up, but then the wind picked up.

"Whoa!" I flailed my arms as a large gust of wind came and took a step back.

"Careful." he muttered lazily.

"Can't we do something else?" I asked, "I've been doing this for nearly an hour, and my legs are burning."

"You need to learn the basics."

I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. He sighed and reached in his belt for something. He tossed a small stick my way and I snatched it out of the air.

"What's this?" I started looking it over and noticed a small button in the middle of it. I pressed it and the rod tripled in size into a staff, "Cool."

I was too busy admiring the staff to notice something flying at my head. It hit me squared in the forehead and I cursed under my breath.

"If you were paying attention you could've blocked that."

I glared at him and he smirked before tossing something else at me which I side stepped.

"Hit it. Knock them down with the staff." he explained like he was talking to a five year old.

I bit my tongue and spun the staff around in my hand. He threw something else and I just managed to hit it with the end of the staff.

"Good now keep going." he stated before starting to whip things at me.

_______

After several long hours of 'training', I climbed back through my window and collapsed on my bed in exhaustion.

It felt like I had just fallen asleep when aunt Merida came pounding on the door screaming at me to wake up.

I groaned and forced myself up off the bed and got dressed. I glanced at the clock before heading downstairs and noticed it was nearly eleven thirty. Good thing it's Saturday.

After eating something and listening to uncle Stan and aunt Merida's rant about getting enough sleep, I headed back upstair to take a nap. Once I was laying down and starting to drift off to sleep my phone started vibrating.

"Frig."

I grabbed my phone off the side table closest to me and looked at the text. It was from an unknown number. I unlocked my phone and let it load up.

'Tired? Next lesson is tonight, ten thirty. Meet me at the clock tower and don't be late this time.'

I let out an exasperated sigh and closed my eyes. Maybe this wouldn't be so easy.
