Destiny's P.O.V.
"So, you're Destiny?" Ava asks sceptically.
For some reason Sara insisted Ava joined us on the mission. The mission being getting Beebo away from those idiot Vikings.
And since the last time Ava saw me I was an eight year old girl, I have some explaining to do. "I am, just older."
"Because Sara just dumped you in 1967?"
I flinch at the words, because it's what I used to think too during the time I was there. But now that I've seen what mom and Sara went through, I get that they didn't have a choice. Still, it hurts.
"It was to protect the timeline."
She nods, understanding that part very well. We continue walking in silence. Until her hand brushes against mine and a spike of electricity runs through me.
Also, a spike of self awareness. This woman is a friend of my mom. She used to babysit me. And I used to hate her 'no fun policy', or as she called it her 'safety first policy'. I can't be catching feelings for her...
Thankfully this is also when Amaya walks up to her. "You ready to see the Legends in action?"
"The goal is to do this peacefully, without action." She replies.
Yep, there's that boring woman I know and absolutely not love...
"There's a first time for everything, I guess." Amaya replies, me chuckling slightly.
In the meantime, we have arrived at the Viking's.
Who'm Nate greeds politely. "Hail, Leif, son of Erik. I, Nathaniel Henryson."
"Hail, Nathaniel, son of Henry." Leif greets back. "A Yuletide surprise."
I suddenly get an almost overwhelming scared feeling from Leif's sister, so I turn my attention to her.
On the outside she doesn't look scared though, she just turns to her brother and whispers: "Are you sure this is wise, brother? We know nothing about these people."
So Sara makes the always working move: "We brought booze."
---
Before we know it, we're drinking and having fun with the Vikings.
"As far as strategy goes, this would not be my first pick." Ava tells me and Sara.
"Why not?" Sara asks. "They welcomed us in, we get Beebo and we get out."
"The bureau has rules about fraternizing with the locals." Ava replies.
To which I roll my eyes and hand her the neerest alcohol I can find. "Have a drink."
---
"Anyone have eyes on Beebo?" We hear Ray ask over the comms. "Short, blue, looking for cuddles?"
"Yeah, we're working on it." Sara replies.
By 'working on it' she means trying to outdrink a bunch of Vikings.
Which we do. Ava, Sara, and I slap the table before the men have finished their drinks.
"Oh, by Odin's spear, you bested us." One says. "Beautiful and they can hold their mead. Tell us, which of these clansmen are your husbands, and we'll kill them."
Ava chuckles in response. "Oh. I'm not really the husband kind."
"Perfect, me neither!" He laughs.
But I'm not really focussed on them anymore. It was just one shared look, but I could've sworn I felt something come from her. An emotion that I've never felt towards me before.
