Travis POV:
Sal and I went down to see Ms. Johnson fixing some of the mail boxes.
"Hey, Lisa" I looked to Sal as he mumbled the words, it almost sounded like he was crying. It's barely Saturday at 6pm. Why did Sal's dad have to basically kick him out..?
"Hey, Sal. Why do you have you bags? Moving again?"
"Nah... M-my dad uhh... Kicked me out... So I was gonna go live with Travis for a while, just until I'm able to get my own place..."
"Nonsense! You can stay with me and Larry! We'd love to have the company, especially since what happened, right Larry?"
I didn't even notice the lengthy kid sitting in the corner, drinking a beer again. He basically ignored her, finishing the can before looking to me and crushing it in his hand. It kinda scared me, which showed. It somehow brought a smile to his face.
He stood up, walking to Sal, leaning down, their faces meeting. "It'll be like having my own little brother..~"
He said it with an almost sinister tone. That also scared me. I had to go home anyways. I have to get up in 12 hours to get ready to go to church again. I started walking out the door when Larry grabbed me. "And where are you going, Phelps? Aren't you the dick magnet?"
Ms. Johnson took notice of his language, and quickly hushed him, and told him to watch his language.
"Lisa, the offers nice, but... Travis has to go home today. And I wanna be with him, just to make sure I'm able to be around him."
Ms. Johnson let off a light nod, and Larry threw me at the floor. That shit hurt. I scrambled up to my feet, Larry laughing at my urgency. I wanted to fucking hit him, but I didn't. I was above that.
Ms. Johnson offered to drive us there, and with how many bags Sal had? We gladly accepted.
We all hopped into her new caddy. It was nice as fuck. It was shiny, the color was a metallic maroon. I ran my hand over the side of it, admiring the nice car.
"1971?"
"Yea. How'd you guess?"
"I dunno. I'm a bit of a car geek, and it just has that sexy build that the older cars do. Sedan De Ville?"
"Mmhm!!~ You really know your cars"
I smiled at Ms. Johnson's compliment. I dunno why, but it felt nice to be complimented every now and then.
Larry was helping Sal get everything into the trunk. I decided to get in since he only had like 7 bags with him. Gizmo sat on my lap, and Ms. Johnson moved to the drivers seat. I could hear Larry and Sal talking, but not individual words.
Larry POV (this should be the only POV swap in the book, generally it'll be the same the whole chapter, but it will switch back to Travis after this, it's just letting you know what Travis isn't hearing):
"Sal, listen to me, he isn't good for you."
"Larry. It's fine. He's happy-! And hey, I am too..!"
"You can't be that happy after your dad just kicked you out for dating him from what you told me."
"Actually, I'm relieved. I don't have to put up with him drinking all the time, and I don't have to go home to make /him/ food ever again..! I'm happy with Travis, Larry. Why can't you be happy for me..?"
