After arguing with Hinata that it was too late for him to go home and that he could hurt himself again, he finally agreed and plopped on the couch and complained he was bored. So now you two were watching a movie, you seated in the middle of the couch with both knees curled into your chest and your arms resting on them, and Hinata at the far end with his hurt knee sitting properly and the other knee curled into his chest. His face rested on his knee as he watched intently, his hands hooked around his ankle. You, however, were too busy watching Hinata to focus on the movie.
He wore the same clothes, since his clothes were still in dryer. The lights were off, but it didn't make it any harder for you to see him. The lights and colors from the tv screen reflected off his face perfectly as his eyes glowed with curiosity and interest. You could feel yourself smiling, but at the moment, you didn't really care.
"I can feel you watching me, (Y/n)-chan" Hinata spoke, turning his head to you.
You turned a bright red, unnoticeable thanks to the dark, and buried your face into your knees from embarrassment. He chuckled and you felt the couch shift. You didn't need to look up to know he was right beside you; you could feel the couch dip and the warmth radiating from his body.
"Are you alright, (Y/n)-chan? You're acting kind of weird" he asked.
You could hear the genuine concern in his voice, and it made you want to tell him everything. The only thing that kept you from spilling your thoughts, was that you didn't even know what was going on in your mind. But you realized, that you noticed more things about Hinata.
Like the way his face would light up whenever someone mentioned volleyball or food(especially meat buns). And how his eyes could express several emotions at once. And when you'd go to practice, you found yourself watching him more often than the others. You noticed all his little improvements and silly remarks he'd make under his breath when he was annoyed with Kageyama.
And he'd always have a skip in his step after he won a practice match. And you especially loved how he sometimes put his tasks into songs. But even without all that stuff, there was something else about him that had you completely hooked. It was how serious and determined he got when he was on the court. The wild look he'd get in his eyes when he was really into the game. And evey time he'd jump to spike the ball down, he was no longer the innocent and pure Hinata everyone knew; when he was in the sky, Hinata became a monster. And the scariest thing was that he wasn't even at his full potential yet.
But how the hell were you were supposed to tell him that? "Oh, yeah, I've just been watching every little thing you do, no biggie haha" Yeah, no. So you just nodded and smiled.
"Of course! Never better" you answered cheerily.
"I can tell your lying, (Y/n)" he said.
He moved even closer, so close that your faces were just inches apart. Something in you desperately wanted to close that space and kiss him. But before you were driven to do that, you noticed something. He called you (Y/n). No -chan, just your first name.
You gaped. First of all, you didn't really see him as the observant type, it took you by surprise when he noticed your change in behaviour. Secondly, his cheery voice was replaced with a serious tone, and there was no hint of him joking at all. You gulped, not sure how to deal with this.
"Please tell me what's wrong" Hinata pleaded.
'.......what is wrong?' you questioned in your head.
You went over your actions from today in your mind, trying to find a reason for all of them. Hinata waited patiently, and he would wait until he got an answer. He wasn't sure why, but he really wanted to make you happy. He shrugged it off as being a good friend, but something else nagged at him. Something else in him wanted to be more.
He knew how close he was, and it took everything in him not to press his lips onto yours. It was even harder when you got lost in thought, biting your bottom lip in concentration. He saw your (eye color) eyes shine with realization and your mouth opened slightly.
You finally figured out why you always acted differently around Hinata. Why you found yourself watching him more than you should. Why you always felt different when you were with him. You realized, you liked Hinata Shoyo.
"(Y/n)-chan?" Hinata asked hesitantly.
You looked to his big brown eyes, and you panicked. How were supposed to tell him that you had romantic feelings for him? Would he even understand? Does he like you, too? Will it ruin your friendship if you tell him and he doesn't accept? So many thoughts whirled in your mind.
"Uh....uhm..." you stuttered.
'What is she thinking?! Why am I so close to her?! Gwah she's too cute I wanna kiss her!' Hinata's mind raced with thoughts.
He got closer and closer, the curiosity eating at him. Your heart beat faster the closer he got, but you made no effort in stopping him. That was, until you heard the front door unlocking. You both snapped your heads in that direction as the door began opening. You knew of the position you and Hinata were in, so you quickly pushed him off and faced the tv, just in time for your parents to enter.
